As a Staff Software Engineer joining our fast-growing Financial Systems Engineering team, you will shape the architecture and design of Velocity's Global Work Platform. You work on problems that span across multiple internal and external systems, leading key technical decisions that impact the architecture and scalability of our financial platforms. As the tech lead for an engineering pod, you'll collaborate across teams, driving the transition from monolithic to microservices architecture on AWS. Your leadership will ensure that cross-functional partners understand how the solutions you're building create value for our internal and external customers.
You will report to the Sr. Manager, Software Engineering.
You will be based in Palo Alto, California, and in-office collaboration is required for at least one day per week.
You Will:
- Drive architectural vision and lead the design of scalable solutions for our financial systems, including payroll and billing.
- Provide technical leadership to your pod, working closely with engineering, product, and operations teams to align on system requirements and deliver high-quality, scalable software solutions.
- Collaborate with engineers to address operational issues and ensure that insights from root cause analyses are implemented organization-wide.
- Develop quick prototypes to inform decision-making on project priorities and requirements.
- Conduct code reviews to ensure adherence to coding standards.
- Mentor junior engineers on best practices and contribute to the team's upskilling efforts.
You Have:
- Bachelor's (or higher) degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field such as physics or mathematics, or equivalent technical experience.
- 6+ years of experience in software development.
- Experience in one or more programming languages including TypeScript and JavaScript.
- Experience in backend development technologies and frameworks such as Node.js, React, or Spring Boot
- Experience developing full stack web applications on AWS cloud platform.
- Experience with ERP systems (ex: SAP, NetSuite) is valuable.
Our job titles may span more than one career level. The base pay depends upon many factors, such as training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified.
Annualized Pay Range
$155,000—$214,000 USD
