Cloudera is looking for a distributed systems and web services developer to join Cloudera’s open source infrastructure management platform team. Cloudbreak is for provisioning Cloudera Data Platform clusters on cloud infrastructure such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud.

As a Staff Software Engineer you will…

Implement enhancements in the Cloudbreak product that improves the customer experience

Write software in Java, Go or Javascript and interact with the API of cloud providers (Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform, Microsoft Azure and OpenStack)

Be responsible for full software development lifecycle – design, development, testing, operating in production

Design solutions to achieve a high level of reliability, scalability, and security

Do an innovative work - Cloudera pushes the frontier of big data & distributed computing, as our track record shows. We work on high-profile open source projects, interacting daily with engineers at other exciting companies, speaking at meet-ups, etc.

Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or a related technical field

Experience in Java development/debugging and multithreading programming

Experience in addressing scale and performance problems

Strong software engineering skills: modular design, data structures, and algorithms

Development experience in Linux environments

Experience with container technologies, such as Docker
-
Clean coding habits, attention to detail, and focus on quality

Excellent communication and collaboration skills

The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team

Experience with cloud APIs (e.g., a public cloud such as AWS, Azure, GCP)

Experience with the Kubernetes ecosystem (EKS, AKS, GKE, Helm)

Experience with a service mesh (Istio)

Experience with microservice observability (distributed tracing, monitoring, logging)

Experience with gRPC
-
Software development experience with a highly-scalable, distributed, large multi-node environment

Big Data / NoSQL / distributed database experience is a plus
