Uber for Business (U4B) enables organizations of all sizes to leverage the power of Uber. We serve businesses across the globe on their transportation, delivery, and logistics needs and are a key strategic vector for Uber at large. Within U4B, U4B APIs are a critical channel to integrate Uber products with our enterprise partners.

We are looking for someone with a passion for architecting, building, coding and scaling highly-available, mission critical external facing API platforms for our enterprise partners.

What the Candidate Will Do\\-\\-\\--

- Actively seek out the engineering and business problems, tackle them with little to no mentorship.

- Take the larger vision or challenge and break it down into strategies and plans including trade-offs, convergence, and closure across teams required to realize the vision.

- Be a role model on acting with good judgment and responsibility. Engineers across the organization will look to you on how best to plan and execute on projects

- Improving standard methodologies, producing best in class of code, documentation, testing and monitoring

- Lead the design, development, and deployment of scalable and reliable backend systems

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product managers, business development teams, and drive technical vision to scale systems for growing business needs

- Drive continuous improvement in system architecture and operational excellence, with a focus on reliability, security, performance, scalability, and maintainability

- Stay current with the latest technologies and industry trends, evaluating and integrating new tools and methodologies as appropriate.

\\-\\-\\-\\- Basic Qualifications ----

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent practical experience

- 9+ years of experience in professional software development with detailed inside-out knowledge of any of the general programming languages e.g. Java, Go, C/C++, Python

- 5+ years of experience in the design and solution of distributed systems operating at scale

- Passion for driving continual improvement initiatives on engineering standard methodologies including coding, testing and monitoring.

- Solid technical leadership abilities, and comfortable working with various stakeholders to ensure adoption/impact

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write detailed technical documents

- Passionate about helping teams grow by inspiring and mentoring engineers.

- Master's or PhD degree in in Computer Science or a related field

For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$218,000 per year - USD$242,000 per year.

For Sunnyvale, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$218,000 per year - USD$242,000 per year.

For all US locations, you will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
