We are looking for a talented and experienced Staff Software Engineer to join our team and help shape the future of restaurant management through AI. In this role, you will work closely with Product and Design to help shape the Sous Chef technical roadmap and create robust solutions that expertly address the unique needs of our customers. You will be a crucial part of the team, helping bring Sous Chef’s advanced AI capabilities to mobile, web, and beyond by enhancing user experiences and driving innovation. This is an opportunity to work in a fast-paced, high-impact environment where your contributions will be highly visible and directly influence the direction of Sous Chef.
About this roll* (Responsibilities)
- Play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and scaling the Sous Chef AI Assistant
- Work with product and design to translate business goals and user feedback into actionable technical tasks, contributing to a clear and effective roadmap
- Provide technical design feedback and participate in code reviews to ensure releases exceed expectations
- Champion quality automation and unit testing
- Ensure that the team consistently delivers to an exceptionally high-quality level, with rigorous monitoring and comprehensive support in production to maintain excellence
- Mentor and guide other team members
Do you have the right ingredients*? (Requirements)
- Proficient in Java, Kotlin or other object oriented languages
- Proficient with traditional databases and alternative data stores
- Proficient in Software Development best practices (Code Quality, UnitTest, BDD)
- Knowledge of natural language processing(NLP) and user experience(UX) design principles
- Experience with AI/ML technologies and mobile app development a plus
- Experience consistently delivering high quality, reliable services to production
- Excellent cross-team communication skills on complex technical topics
- Enjoy collaborating with and mentoring colleagues
- Passionate about technology and learning new things
- Willingness to make continuous improvements to teams and technology

The base salary range for this role is listed below. The starting salary will be determined based on skills and experience. In addition to base salary, our total rewards components include cash compensation (overtime, bonus/commissions if eligible), equity, and benefits.
Pay Range
$150,000—$240,000 USD
