Staff Software Engineer - Full Stack

Okta’s Customer Identity Cloud (CIC), powered by Auth0 technology, is an easy to implement authentication and authorization platform designed by developers for developers. We make access to applications safe, secure, and seamless for the more than 100 million daily logins around the world. We are looking for a Staff Javascript Engineer to join our high-calibre Engineering team. Your role will be to help us provide a world-class experience to our customers. In this role, you will have the opportunity to significantly contribute to the foundation of Auth0's product stack, realizing a huge impact for both our customers and partners.
What you will do:
- Product Ownership: Lead the technical lifecycle of your team’s products, ensuring they are robust, secure, and performant from the frontend to the infrastructure layer.
- Full-Stack Execution: Bridge the gap between UI and Backend by designing clean APIs, efficient data flows, and scalable service architectures.
- Architecture & Design: Create and document technical designs for team initiatives, ensuring they account for scale, reliability, and regional constraints.
- Operational Health: Ensure your team’s services meet strict performance and security standards (SLAs/SLOs), including observability, rate-limiting, and SEO.
Mentorship: Elevate the technical bar of your team through code reviews, design feedback, and hands-on guidance.
Location: Bengaluru, Karnataka, India
Work Mode: Hybrid (2 days Onsite per week)
Note: This role requires in-person onboarding and travel to our Bengaluru, IN office during the first week of employment.
Key Qualifications:Technical Execution (Full Stack):
- 8+ years of hands-on experience in JavaScript/Node.js and React/Next.js.
- End-to-End Systems Knowledge: A clear understanding of how web traffic moves from the browser through CDNs, Load Balancers, and API Gateways to the backend.
Backend -
- Data & Caching: Practical experience with databases and distributed caching (e.g., Redis) to manage state and improve application speed.
- Performance & Scale: Experience using quantitative analysis (latency, traffic volume) to justify your design and technology choices.
Frontend -
- Component libraries - Material UI, Radix UI, shadcn/ui.
- JS styling libraries - Tailwind.
- Build tools - Strong experience with frontend build tools, module bundlers, package managers
- Understanding of core web vitals, page speed and performance optimization.
Delivery & Quality:
- Frontend Excellence: Expertise in building accessible (WCAG), high-performance UI components and managing complex frontend build systems.
- Operational Mindset: Familiarity with the "Product-Ops" side of engineering—including SEO fundamentals, security best practices, and monitoring.
- Clear Communication: Ability to articulate technical trade-offs and visualize system flows for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Nice To Haves:
- Experience in the Identity or Authentication space.
- Exposure to cloud-native environments (Kubernetes, AWS).
