This ambitious project processes real-time data at an immense scale—billions of events from companies worldwide—transforming raw signals like code deployments, service health fluctuations, configuration updates, and monitoring alerts into actionable insights for users. We are looking for a product-minded Staff Software Engineer with ML/AI expertise to serve as the technical lead for this initiative. In this role, you will collaborate closely with Data Scientists and Engineers to architect, productionize a high durability and low latency system. Our approach leverages cutting-edge technologies to deliver a seamless user experience that transforms how organizations manage operational challenges at scale.

What You’ll Do:
Lead technical effort to develop the architecture, patterns, and individual solutions to identify and investigate problems
Represent and evangelize the project across Datadog
Regularly speak with users to discover their needs and feedback
Navigate tradeoffs between thoroughness and time-to-market, understanding how to provide the right level of value to customers at the right time
Work with other Datadog teams to integrate their domain expertise into solution pathways
Mentor and grow other engineers on the team and beyond
Who You Are:
You’re passionate about ML/AI and have experience delivering ML-based solutions in the past
You have strong technical expertise to help software engineers, data scientists be more productive
You ship fast, route around blockers, and are comfortable working with ambiguity
You love talking with users
You’re happy to jump into any part of the stack and do whatever’s needed to move a project forward
You have a BS/MS/PhD in a Computer Science, Engineering or related scientific field or equivalent experience
