The Data Platform Pillar is the bedrock of Cloudera’s technology, where we design and build the core components that let our customers store, manage, and process data with unmatched scalability, security, and performance.
Cloudera is looking for a Backend Software Engineer to join the Control Plane and Identity and Access Management development team, part of its Cloudera Data Platform service. This team delivers identity and permissions related capabilities to the control plane and workload clusters deployed to the three public cloud platforms - AWS, Azure and GCP. The workload clusters are clusters with big data workloads like Hive, Spark, Impala, Kudu, Kafka, and NiFi with security and governance controls of Ranger and Atlas applied to the identities federated from enterprise IDPs. The challenges include managing cloud infrastructure that represents the identities of the users, services, the credentials used to access resources of the platform and roles that enable various levels of access to those resources. Important goals for this team are for providing solutions with a concern for scalability, security and a cohesive identity substrate across the entire platform.

As a Staff Software Engineer you will:
Be a technology leader and demonstrate ownership of critical platform services
Gathering functional requirements, developing technical specifications, and project & test planning
Responsible for the design and development of the project
Responsible for quality, engineering and operational excellence of the project
Designing/developing web services with high availability and resiliency
Resolve defects/bugs during system testing, pre-production, production, and post release patches
Roughly 80% hands-on coding
Work cross-functionally with various teams: product management, QE, various product lines, or business units to drive forward results
We are excited if you have (Required Experience):
BS/MS in computer science or equivalent work experience
5+ years for experience in Server Side Technologies
Strong Java, Java EE skills but other languages such as C, C++, C#, Go, etc will be considered as well
Experience building scalable, robust and secure Enterprise applications
Understanding of the Software design/architecture process
Self-driven and motivated, with a strong sense of ownership and craftsmanship
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Experience with containerization (Kubernetes)
You may also have:
Experience with Apache Hadoop stack
Experience with various authentication and authorization technologies, Azure AD, AWS IAM, Kerberos, OAuth 2, OIDC, SAML, SCIM, etc
Experience with cloud technologies (AWS, GCP, Azure)
