As a Staff Engineer in the AAA Identity team you will play a pivotal role in architecting Datadog's core data strategy, helping us to deliver efficient and reliable user experiences as we continue to grow our footprint across products and regions. You should be comfortable leading a new cross-team effort, understanding our customer needs, and designing a system that can be performant at scale.

What You'll Do:

  • Architect core data storage, access, and lifecycle management, enabling dozens of dependent engineering teams to deliver amazing customer experiences.
  • Support an internal API platform for the Application Infrastructure organization, enabling other platform teams to deliver new features quickly and reliably
  • Collaborate with your team, product management, and security teams to align our work with company-wide objectives.
  • Stay hands-on with our systems day-to-day, going deep to solve our technical challenges scalably while focusing on the end-to-end user experience.
  • Identify potential system risks and design solutions to address them, often in collaboration with many other engineering teams.
  • Contribute to short- and long-term planning and roadmap development.


Who You Are:

  • You have led cross-team technical initiatives in a product engineering environment, with quick iteration cycles, for 20+ engineers.
  • You have led impactful technical initiatives in an environment where customer experience, performance, reliability, and accuracy are all first-order concerns.
  • You have a data-oriented mindset and care deeply about designing and building valuable and maintainable products and architectures.
  • You have significant backend experience and have architected, built, and maintained products that operate at high scale.
  • You rely heavily on your excellent written technical communication skills to persuade technical and non-technical stakeholders for high-investment projects.

Datadog offers a competitive salary and equity package, and may include variable compensation. Actual compensation is based on factors such as the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience.
