RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design, develop, test, and document software for existing and new products
- Spend a minimum of 30% of your time on hands-on code implementation, building and shipping production features across React, .NET, and Node.js.
- Build and maintain React web applications and shared UI patterns and optimize .NET backend services (ASP.NET Core, REST APIs) and Node.js services as appropriate for the product area.
- Own and evolve full-stack architecture for our most critical and complex product areas, including RESTful APIs, AWS-hosted infrastructure, and relational data on RDS.
- Own API strategy at an org level: set standards for design, versioning, security, and cross-team contracts, including third-party integration surfaces.
- Establish and uphold engineering practices and guardrails for agentic-IDE development (Cursor or similar), including review standards for agent-generated code across teams
- Write architecture and design documentation for new products, systems, and patterns; lead research and evaluation of new technologies for suitability to our stack
- Own the largest and most complex engineering projects; lead cross-department technical initiatives with clear visibility to the business
- Review and evaluate top-level business requirements in the form of epics and features; lead quarterly and sprint-level estimation, work breakdown, and negotiation with Product Management on alternatives when needed
- Partner with product, design, and Customer Success to define and deliver cohesive, high-quality features
- Work with DevOps on builds, releases, patching, and operational readiness; provide technical oversight of development, build, deployment, and monitoring with an emphasis on security, performance, and scalability
- Review code and architecture across teams; handle merge requests; ensure quality, structure, and adherence to system architecture and best practices
- Identify bottlenecks, debug production issues, and improve reliability and performance — including highly escalated customer and QA-found issues
- Provide technical estimates and communicate progress and risks clearly to engineering leadership and stakeholders
- Lead build vs. buy analysis and other complex technical decisions; drive critical problems to success through advocacy, influence, and direction
- Lead and coach engineers at all levels; raise the bar through pairing, feedback, and contribution to the guild program and onboarding
- Improve engineering practices and processes (testing, observability, release discipline, CI/CD) in ways that benefit multiple teams and the broader organization
- Lead implementation of development process improvements that make software delivery more efficient org-wide
- Share ownership of production health: monitor, respond to critical incidents, and drive fixes for instability or regressions
- Lead the development of the technical hiring process and interview approach with an aim of attracting and hiring strong engineers
- Stay current with industry best practices and relevant technologies; evaluate emerging tools and practices and help roll suitable ones into ABC engineering
- Routinely represent engineering through presentations to other departments and, as needed, as an external spokesperson for the company
QUALIFICATIONS:
- All applicants must be able to work from our Hyderabad office 2-3x a week
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or related field (or equivalent industry experience)
- 8+ years of software development experience with a strong focus on full-stack engineering across frontend and backend.
- Strong proficiency with .NET, C#, Web APIs, MVC, ASP.NET Core, and related backend patterns.
- Strong proficiency with React for building modern web user interfaces (JavaScript/TypeScript, ES6+).
- Strong proficiency with Node.js for backend services, APIs, and server-side JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Hands-on experience with AWS for designing, deploying, and operating cloud-hosted applications and services.
- Experience with Amazon RDS and relational databases for schema design, queries, performance tuning, and operational best practices.
- Deep RESTful API experience: owning API design, versioning, security, performance, and cross-team contracts at scale
- Habitual use of an agentic coding IDE (Cursor or similar) and a track record of setting review standards for AI-generated code across teams
- Significant experience in full life cycle system development including design, building, testing, deployment, upgrade, and support
- Advanced experience with performance tuning, security, scalability, and reliability concepts
- Proficient understanding of code versioning tools such as Git and the associated best practices
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and experience supporting multiple scrum teams through planning, delivery, and retrospectives
- Demonstrated experience leading teams through both process and technical change
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence across teams and departments
