The Role:
We’re looking for a passionate and driven Staff Quality Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is excited to take ownership of our quality strategy. As Staff Quality Engineer, you’ll be more than just a gatekeeper — you'll be a champion for excellence, ensuring every release is robust, secure, and built to scale.
You’ll mentor a high-performing off-shore team of QA engineers while staying hands-on with test automation tools like Selenium or Cypress. You'll partner with engineering, product, and operations to shape how we build and ship software — faster, safer, and smarter.
If you’re a technical leader who obsesses over quality, loves mentoring, and wants to make a visible impact in an eCommerce and payments-driven product, this role is your next big challenge.
Responsibilities:
- Mentor a QA team, driving collaboration, project management, and adherence to high quality standards across all testing efforts.
- Own and execute QA strategy across functional, regression, performance (load), and security (penetration) testing for complex web applications, with a focus on payments and eCommerce workflows.
- Develop and maintain automated test frameworks (e.g., Selenium) to streamline test coverage and increase release velocity.
- Partner closely with engineering and product teams to integrate testing early in the development cycle, ensure clear requirements, and rapidly troubleshoot issues across environments.
- Establish QA best practices and metrics, continuously improving test coverage, process efficiency, and system reliability through modern tools and methodologies.
Requirements:
- Between 8 and 10 years of QA experience with a strong grasp of SDLC, Agile (Scrum/Kanban), and test-driven development practices for web applications
- College degree in Computer Science or related field
- Previous experience working at a startup company
- Proficient in automated testing tools like Selenium, Cypress, or similar, with recent hands-on experience writing and maintaining test scripts
- Skilled in functional, regression, performance (load), and security (pen) testing, with a deep understanding of modern QA methodologies
- Strong experience with or knowledge of ecommerce and/or payments
- Familiar with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, CircleCI), version control (e.g., Git), and bug tracking systems like Jira
- Strong communicator and team builder with a track record of mentoring QA engineers and fostering a high-performance, collaborative culture
- Thrives in fast-paced environments, brings a GSD mindset, and embraces the impact and ownership that come with smaller, agile teams
