Job Summary:
onsemi is seeking a self-driven and motivated professional to join the Product Quality team. The Product Quality Engineer is an important customer-facing, hands-on role within the Corporate Quality team which owns product quality and interfaces daily with our business groups and divisions. This position requires strong collaboration with Product & Test Engineering, Customer Quality, Central Engineering, Manufacturing & Operations and Power Solutions Group. This role can be based in Scottsdale, AZ or Allen, Texas.
Responsibilities
- Product Quality responsibility from qualification through production release to end of life. Become and be the subject matter expert regarding a product’s quality.
- Drive improvement through involvement in safe launch and analysis of customer returns to identify weaknesses and propose systemic solutions.
- Collaborate with Product Engineering and Test Engineering teams to improve test coverage, guard-banding, screening strategy, and defect detection capability.
- Analyze manufacturing, test and failure analysis data to guide the identification of root causes, assess quality and reliability risk, and drive yield and quality improvements.
- Engage with Power Solutions Group and manufacturing, fostering a collaborative team environment to resolve challenges to ensure goals are met.
- Key member of cross-functional global 8D teams to ensure expedient and effective resolution of customer quality issues from initiation to closure.
- Execute fast, effective containment.
- Facilitate the use of structured problem-solving tools (Is/Is-Not, Fault Tree Analysis, Fishbone, 5-why, 8D) for thorough root cause investigations to ensure effective corrective actions (occurrence, escape and systemic).
- Deploy lessons learned across organizational boundaries and contribute to continuous improvement activities.
- Report and present to internal (and external as needed) customers regularly documenting it as necessary.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Semiconductor/ Quality and Engineering, or relevant field.
- 8+ years in Product Quality Engineering or a comparable role, in the semiconductor industry, e.g. Customer Quality (commercial and/or automotive), Reliability, Product Test, Failure Analysis or Product Engineering.
- Strong technical problem solving and hands-on skills in quality tools and methodologies; Automotive knowledge, e.g. APQP, AEC and VDA a plus.
- Good knowledge of semiconductor device fabrication, package assembly and testing with familiarity of fail mechanisms and symptoms.
- Excellent ability to manage both internal and external dynamic environments and circumstances through influence and negotiation skills to respond to challenging information and situations.
- Candidate should have a solid quality / engineering background, along with good team collaboration and communication skills across worldwide time zones with a track record of accomplishments.
- Experienced in performing statistical data analysis to draw data-based conclusions and guide investigations toward root cause finding and corrective actions.
- Knowledge and experience in design, fabrication, reliability and failure analysis of power electronics is preferred.
- Fluency in utilizing AI to enhance work efficiency is a plus.
