About the Role

The primary purpose of the Staff Nurse - OBGYN position is to provide patient care (neonate to maturity) based on the identified individualized needs of assigned patients and families within the clinical nursing role. The Staff Nurse will assess, screen, evaluate, educate, and provide care management/outcome management in accordance with professional nursing standards and patient needs. The role of the Staff Nurse also includes practice/office support.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do  

  • Provides independent/interdependent/dependent procedural care in accordance with nursing scope of practice andprovides complex nursing skills and clinical judgment as needed.
  • Ensures on a continuing basis that all required nursing interventions are performed for assigned patients as observed by Director.
  • Communicates to all levels of health care team and management team necessary information and/or unusualoccurrences in accordance with established UH or ACC policies and procedures and assessed patient’s need.
  • Administers, monitors, and documents medications and immunizations in accordance with established UH or ACC policies and procedures.
  • Communicates effectively with patients and other members of the health care team.
  • Provides effective communication of all necessary information and/or unusual occurrences in accordance with established UH policies and procedures.
  • Documents all aspects of patient care via the electronic medical record and/or manual records as necessary in accordance with Nursing and UH standards.
  • Develops and maintains good human relations skills consistent with the principles of the Service Excellence Standards with employees, patients, medical staff, and visitors.
  • Develops and/or assists with the development and implementation of policies and procedures consistent with UH standards and State/Federal regulations.
Qualifications

What You’ll Bring

Required:

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with a current license to practice in the State of New Jersey/BSN preferred.
  • BLS required.

Preferred:

  • Two years’ experience in Maternal – Child; Obstetrical and Gynecological specialties preferred, having worked in an Ambulatory Care Service/outpatient care setting, preferred.
  • ANA certification preferred. Ambulatory Care Certification preferred.
  • Two years’ experience in specialty procedures to include but not limited to: Fetal Monitoring, Non-Stress Testing preferred.
  • Lactation Counseling Certification (CLC) preferred.

Compensation

In compliance with New Jersey’s Pay Transparency Act, the salary range for this position is UB/01D - $46.46 - $55.46 - $63.82 per hour. University Hospital considers multiple factors when determining compensation, including (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s relevant work experience, education and training, key skills, internal equity, market data, and organizational needs.
