Staff iOS Engineer, Trust Mobile

Since we opened our doors in 2009, the world of commerce has evolved immensely, and so has Square. After enabling anyone to take payments and never miss a sale, we saw sellers stymied by disparate, outmoded products and tools that wouldn't work together.
So we expanded into software and started building integrated, omnichannel solutions - to help sellers sell online, manage inventory, offer buy now, pay later functionality, book appointments, engage loyal buyers, and hire and pay staff. Across it all, we've embedded financial services tools at the point of sale, so merchants can access a business loan and manage their cash flow in one place. Afterpay furthers our goal to provide omnichannel tools that unlock meaningful value and growth, enabling sellers to capture the next generation shopper, increase order sizes, and compete at a larger scale.
Today, we are a partner to sellers of all sizes - large, enterprise-scale businesses with complex operations, sellers just starting, as well as merchants who began selling with Square and have grown larger over time. The Role
The Trust Mobile team is responsible for the experiences within our mobile apps that help establish our Sellers identity with the product we provide and support them as issues arise. This spans features across authentication (sign-in and multi-factor), onboarding (Know Your Customer), account security, support, and help live messaging across the Square ecosystem of products.
As an iOS engineer on the team you will have a key role in designing, building, and improving our existing experiences in these areas across our iOS mobile applications. This includes our flagship products Point of Sale , Square Register , Square Terminal , Square for Restaurants , Square for Retail , Square Appointments , Square Invoices , Square Payroll , Square Team .
You Will

• Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of critical features within Trust Mobile.
• Represent the team in architectural discussions and stakeholder conversations, serving as a bridge between our team and the broader organization.
• Help shape the future of our codebase by building flexible, extendable, and reusable components.
• Foster a culture of engineering excellence and mentor engineers of all experience levels.
• Hold yourself and your teammates to the highest standard of engineering excellence, with unwavering attention to product reliability.
• Work with product managers, designers, and data scientists to shape the future of the Trust Mobile product areas at Square.
• Help contribute to a culture of positivity, psychological safety, and inclusivity within the team.

You Have

• 8+ years of iOS software engineering experience, developing scalable production software and an excellent command of engineering fundamentals.
• Proficiency in Swift and/or Objective-C.
• Proficiency in native iOS development using standard tools and frameworks.
• Experience working in complex technical projects, e.g. cross-team programs.
• An ability to lead and mentor software engineers to deliver solutions while fostering growth.
• A passion for building mobile products at all levels - from the low-level architectural decisions to the individual pixels.
• A desire to build products that our merchants will depend on every day to run their business.
