Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems sector is looking for a Staff GNC Engineer. This role is located on-site in Melbourne, FL.
Essential Functions:
Design, develop, implement, verify and test algorithms, software and simulation tools to perform guidance, navigation and control (GNC).
Develop control laws to meet air vehicle performance, flying qualities and stability margin requirements, both on ground and in flight.
Develop air vehicle system linear and non-linear dynamic simulation models and integrate models into software and hardware-in-the-loop simulation environments.
Develop analysis to support design reviews at different stages in a development program, such as PDR, CDR, etc.
Analyze air vehicle flight test data and support flight test activities.
You may be required to attend or present at internal program, customer and/or supplier technical exchange meetings and/or formal program milestone reviews to provide and/or obtain progress status updates.
Basic Qualifications:
For Level 5: Must have a Bachelor's in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university AND 12 years of experience in the design and integration of equipment OR a Master’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university AND 10 years of experience in the design and integration of equipment.
Active In-Scope DoD Secret clearance.
Ability to obtain and maintain Active In-Scope DoD Top Secret clearance.
Supplier Management Team (SMT) experience.
Experience working with diverse technical teams and leading others.
Knowledge of design, analysis and/or engineering tools development
Proficient with typical office toolsets such as Windows OS and Microsoft Office Suite
Must have experience on a diverse team of GNC engineers on a development program.
Must be proficient in Matlab, Simulink, and autocoding Simulink models.
Preferred Qualifications:
Candidate must have excellent communication, analysis and problem solving skills and be able to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
Current active DoD Top Secret clearance (with background investigation completed within the last 5 years or under continuous evaluation)
Knowledge of C/C++, Java, Python
Knowledgeable in the area of flight sciences, control law development, and control system analysis.
Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering.
Experience writing/reviewing technical documents: CDRLS, SSOWs, SRDs, ICDs, SDRL reviews, etc.
Experience in leading, mentoring, and developing multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver complex technical solutions, within cost and schedule constraints, across the various phases of the engineering lifecycle.
