As a Staff Engineer, SSD Validation, you will own significant portions of the test automation infrastructure used to validate Enterprise Storage System interoperability. Working closely with test execution engineers and firmware developers, you will define automation architecture, raise the bar on test quality and efficiency, and mentor engineers across the team. This role is based in Longmont, CO, surrounded by stunning landscapes and a vibrant community.
Responsibilities
- Architect and implement cross-platform storage APIs to control and characterize system behavior
- Design, document, and automate test cases validating SSD features, gross functions, and use cases
- Drive regression strategy and continuous improvement across a representative cross-section of systems
- Research, evaluate, and procure cutting-edge storage hardware platforms
- Provide technical direction, code review, and mentorship, partnering with firmware and product teams to align coverage with program priorities
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years in test automation development, validation engineering, or a closely related field
- Strong Python proficiency with emphasis on object-oriented programming and abstract interfaces
- Experience building cross-platform infrastructure across Windows/Linux/BSD and x86/ARM, including OS APIs, process control, memory management, and device driver interactions
- Working knowledge of enterprise storage products and protocols, plus AI-assisted development tools such as TabNine or Claude Code
Preferred Qualifications
- Established track record building, owning, and scaling test automation frameworks
- Demonstrated ability to define and execute test strategy in a fast-paced, competitive environment
- Experience mentoring engineers or leading small technical efforts
- Strong communication skills, including conveying complex patterns through UML documentation
- Intense curiosity about the nature of complex computing systems
The US base salary range that Micron Technology estimates it could pay for this full-time position is:
$121,000.00 - $207,000.00 a year
Additional compensation may include benefits, bonuses and equity.
