This MuleSoft Engineering role will be a member of the Payment Hub team responsible for defining the direction and guidelines for API development for the bank. This position requires experience with middleware applications, including expert-level knowledge with MuleSoft and Anypoint Platform. In addition, as a Staff Engineer I, the role will provide technical leadership across both delivery and production support, ensuring resilient, stable, and scalable integrations. The candidate will also leverage AI-assisted delivery practices to improve engineering productivity, quality, and operational efficiency.- Understand Business Requirements, perform impact analysis and assess technical challenges/feasibility in achieving required business outcome.
- Own production support for APIs including incident management, issue triaging, and resolution.
- Design, develop, test, document, and deploy solutions on the Mulesoft Anypoint platform.
- Design API layers, data model and specifications.
- Develop APIs using Mulesoft platform components (API Manager, CloudHub, Anypoint Studio, Dataweave and Anypoint MQ).
- Provide technical leadership and establish MuleSoft engineering standards and best practices.
- Leverage AI-assisted development tools to accelerate API development, testing, and documentation.
- Troubleshoot complex production issues with APIs, lead root cause analysis, and implement permanent fixes.
- Ensure observability through logging, monitoring, and alerting to proactively detect issues.
- Support release deployments, environment management, and post-release validation.
- Identify risks and implement mitigation measures.
- Drive standards for development, governance and operational lifecycle.
- Participate in continuous improvement of MuleSoft & cloud integration operations and delivery.
What you'll need:
- 7+ years in design, coding, testing, implementation, and documentation of MuleSoft APIs.
- Bachelor's degree in related field required.
- Strong experience with MuleSoft Anypoint and CloudHub.
- Experience in production support, incident management, and root cause analysis.
- Experience defining API standards and leading technical design discussions.
- Experience with API-led connectivity patterns.
- Experience using Agile and iterative development practices.
- Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
- Experience with AI-assisted engineering tools or practices to improve delivery efficiency.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of general Financial Services or Banking preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of applicable regulatory and legal compliance obligations, rules and regulations, industry standards and practices.
- Advanced proven experience in leading cross-functional teams and managing multiple projects simultaneously. Additional experience with pipeline development and leveraging Azure DevOps while working on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Intermediate to advanced ability to see the big picture and align projects with organizational goals. Capable of leading and motivating cross-functional teams. Expertise in resolving conflicts and addressing challenges as well as skilled at identifying and mitigating risks at the project level. Proficient in governance patterns tied to intake, technical reviews and architectural compliance.
- Advanced speaking and writing communication skills.
- May require up to 25% travel.
