As the Staff Engineer II – API Development & Entitlement you’ll serve a senior technical leader and Subject Matter Expert (SME), providing expertise across enterprise API development, integration platforms, entitlement services, and API governance within a highly regulated financial services environment. As a Staff Engineer II within Enterprise Application Services (EAS), you'll provide shared services expertise in a suite of technical tools and products to ensure solutions are safe, secure, compliant, reliable, and scalable. You'll identify, develop, and support technology needs while taking on solution design responsibilities that support strategic and tactical project initiatives. As a key technical leader, you'll facilitate collaboration and alignment across teams both within and outside your domain, helping drive successful delivery and operational excellence. The role works closely with business stakeholders, Enterprise Architecture, Information Security, Risk Management, Compliance, and delivery teams to ensure solutions align with enterprise standards, regulatory requirements, and business objectives. You'll lead complex technical initiatives, influence architectural decisions, promote engineering best practices, and drive continuous improvement through sound governance and design principles. Additionally, you'll develop effective presentations, technical documentation, and executive-level narratives that clearly communicate technical strategies, recommendations, and outcomes to a broad range of stakeholders.- Lead API gateways and API management platforms such as MuleSoft API Manager including policy implementation, consumer onboarding, monitoring, and operational support.
- Establish and enforce engineering standards, governance controls, and architectural best practices across multiple application teams to ensure APIs are secure, compliant, reliable, and reusable.
- Lead the strategic planning of a project as it relates to technical solution design.
- Design and implement engineering principles aimed at reliability practices and sound recovery procedures.
- Design transaction specific application performance monitoring metrics that can be captured and passed to business partners.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including system configurations and procedures while also ensuring compliance with IT policies, procedures, and industry standards. Develop desktop procedures when needed that others follow.
What you'll need:
- 7+ years of related experience IT App Support, IT Development, IT Networking, or similar field.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related IT field required.
- 3–5 years of MuleSoft Anypoint Platform experience including designing, developing, and supporting APIs and integrations using MuleSoft anypoint Platform, including API Manager, Runtime Manager, Exchange, and CloudHub/Hybrid deployments..
- Experience in Financial Services API ecosystems and API programs including Governance, lifecycle management, enterprise API standards, and gateway policy enforcement.
- Experience with Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines, automated API quality checks, and API security scanning.
- Knowledge of FDX, Open Banking, OAuth 2.0, JWT, mTLS, and enterprise integration patterns.
- Experience partnering with Architecture, Information Security, Risk, and Development teams to ensure solutions align with enterprise standards, regulatory requirements, and technology roadmaps.
- Previous leadership experience preferred.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of general Financial Services or Banking is preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of applicable regulatory and legal compliance obligations, rules and regulations, industry standards and practices.
- Advanced proven experience in leading cross-functional teams and managing multiple projects simultaneously. Additional experience with pipeline development and leveraging Azure DevOps while working on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Advanced ability to see the big picture and align projects with organizational goals. Capable of leading and motivating cross-functional teams. Expertise in resolving conflicts and addressing challenges as well as skilled at identifying and mitigating risks at the project level. Proficient in governance patterns tied to intake, technical reviews and architectural compliance.
- Advanced speaking and writing communication skills.
- May require up to 25% travel.
