JC Residential and Light Commercial LLC (n/k/a BHC Residential and Light Commercial LLC) seeks Staff Electrical Engineer (Multiple Positions) at its facility located at 5005 York Drive, Norman, Oklahoma 73069. Develop, design, and implement processes, systems, and procedures using standard engineering or technology principles to complete assignments. Evaluate wiring diagrams, control box wire routing, and wire harnesses. Support and troubleshoot product issues in the field and on the production line. Conduct or participate in DFMEAs, risk, and cost-benefit analysis. Develop and design prototypes, develop sequence of operation and test plans for projects. Identify, investigate, and recommend improvements in products, systems, or processes to enhance application or operation. Conduct market research, systems analysis, and experimentation to assess application or operational feasibility and explore alternatives. Plan and schedule projects, tests, and changes to optimize utilization while meeting established timelines and budgets. Perform trade-offs between implementation, schedule, cost, and resource constraints, and recommends alternatives. Participate in technology transfer initiatives across IT departments, R&D, manufacturing, and Product Engineering. Prepare product documentation, operating instructions, and reviews related technical literature. REQS: This position requires a bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field. Plus 5 years of experience as an Electronics Engineer, Electrical Engineer, or related occupation in the electrical or controls product design industry. Additionally, the applicant must have employment experience with: (1) Designing electrical and controls system in Commercial HVAC systems, including new product development, technical problem solving and tradeoff analysis at optimized cost techniques; (2) Utilizing UL 60335/508 and NEC/NFPA standards for agency certification of HVAC package units and product design, device selection, sizing, cable sizing, voltage drop calculations, protections for main switchgear of HVAC packaged units; (3) Designing and troubleshooting with third party communication protocols used in BAS system (BACnet, or MODBUS, etc.); (4) Utilizing circuit simulation tools to screen out potential system interaction issues, troubleshooting using industrial automation simulation tools (Python, C++ scripts or LabVIEW/ MATLAB controls automation); (5) Utilizing programmable circuit logic testing tools for implementing sequence of operation, equipment operation philosophy on prototypes, testing and validating instruments/sensors, Troubleshoot issues from control boards to system levels; and (6) Utilizing electrical tools like Electrical Transient Analyzer programming (ETAP) by hazardous area classifications for short circuit analysis, load flow analysis, Hormonic study, and EMI/EMC compliances. Skills Required
- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field
- Minimum 5 years experience as an Electronics Engineer, Electrical Engineer, or related role in electrical or controls product design industry
- Experience designing electrical and controls systems for Commercial HVAC systems including new product development and tradeoff analysis
- Experience utilizing UL 60335 and UL 508 and applying NEC/NFPA standards for agency certification, device selection, cable sizing, voltage drop, and switchgear protection
- Experience designing and troubleshooting third-party BAS communication protocols (BACnet, MODBUS, etc.)
- Experience using circuit simulation and industrial automation simulation tools and scripting (Python, C++ scripts, LabVIEW, MATLAB) for screening and troubleshooting
- Experience with programmable logic testing tools to implement sequences of operation, validate prototypes, and test instruments/sensors
- Experience using ETAP (Electrical Transient Analyzer) for short circuit analysis, load flow, harmonic studies, and EMI/EMC compliance by hazardous area classifications
- Familiarity with DFMEA, risk analysis, cost-benefit analysis, prototype development, and preparing technical product documentation
