Job Title: Staff Category Manager, Direct Materials, Resins & Silicones

Position Overview:
The Category Manager is responsible for the sourcing and supply management of Insulet’s direct material requirements as a member of Insulet Corporation’s Direct Material Sourcing team. In this lead role, you will be responsible for driving sourcing strategies, procurement activities, and supplier management for complex components and materials for the categories of Plastic Resins & Silicones. You will own these categories by creating/updating sourcing strategies, driving day to day production support, managing overall supplier relationships, and leading cross-functional teams, including members from Supplier Development Engineering, Supplier Quality, Product Development, Sustaining Engineering, Supply Chain, Finance, Legal, Internal Manufacturing, and Insulet’s Contract Manufacturing partners.
Responsibilities:
- Be the “Trusted Advisor” for all aspects of the Resins & Silicones. Ensure that Insulet teams work toward the agreed upon sourcing strategy for the category.
- Lead cross functional teams with key stakeholders to develop and implement global sourcing strategies for the Resin & Silicones categories that continuously improves quality, delivery, service, total cost of ownership, cash flow and mitigates risk in the supply chain.
- Monitor global category market conditions, supplier innovation, technology roadmaps and identify supply/demand challenges & opportunities.
- Ensure that suppliers can meet Insulet’s global capacity requirements.
- Establish strong supplier relationships, and manage the category spend and supplier performance.
- Act as the primary escalation point and ensure timely resolution of issues and challenges.
- Collaborate with key business stakeholders and conduct Quarterly Business reviews (QBR’s) to measure and review supplier performance and ensure conformance to quality, delivery, service, cost and risk mitigation goals.
- Oversee the supplier selection process.
- Develop and execute negotiation strategies that deliver against business objectives and reduce total cost of ownership.
- Ensure that all commercial terms are agreed and documented, and that NDA’s, SOW's and Purchase Agreements are executed on a timely basis.
- Perform contract life-cycle management to include reviewing / renewing expiring contracts, updating pricing and commercial terms.
- Drive year over year cost reduction and avoidance initiatives through annual negotiations and a pipeline of material cost optimization initiatives through design, competitive leverage, and market intelligence, value analysis/value engineering and process improvements.
- Perform total cost and pricing analysis, and monitor industry trends to achieve lowest total cost of ownership (TCO).
- Proactively identify and mitigate supply risk to ensure supply chain resiliency and continuity of supply.
- Perform other duties and lead projects as required.
Education and Experience:
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain or engineering related discipline; Master’s Degree in Business Administration or Engineering preferred.
- Preferred 8+ years’ relevant experience leading a procurement category (preferably custom plastic components, silicones, resins, or chemicals) in sourcing, negotiating, contracting, supplier management and project management.
- Prior experience in global strategic sourcing and supplier management of custom plastic components, silicones, resins, or chemicals using strategic category management techniques to achieve results. Strong technical aptitude relates to engineered components is required.
- Understanding of the relevant processes and capabilities, materials, supply base and industry trends.
- Success in selecting suppliers and negotiating contracts that deliver robust supply chain solutions.
- Demonstrated track record of measurable cost savings on an annual basis.
- Experience in successfully using benchmarking and cost analysis tools to deliver negotiation outcomes.
- Must possess the ability to influence and lead at the most senior levels within the organization.
- Ability to prioritize and work in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
- Proficient with Microsoft Windows and Office applications, particularly Microsoft Excel.
- Medical device or manufacturing experience highly preferred

Additional Information:
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $93,100.00 - $139,900.00. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position in the primary work location in the US. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
