We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Staff Accountant who will perform a wide range of general accounting activities including assisting in the successful execution of month-end close procedures, application of principles of accounting to analyze financial information, and preparation of financial reports by performing the following duties.
What You’ll Do:
This is a Full-Time Salary Position
The Staff Accountant will be responsible for the accurate and timely accounting, reporting, analysis and reconciliations related to assigned entities and functional areas.
- Compiles and analyzes financial information to post entries to general ledger accounts, and document business transactions.
- Maintain General Ledger and recording of journal entries to support auditable, accurate financial statements in a deadline driven environment.
- Reconcile designated general ledger accounts to the summary trial balance on a monthly basis.
- Provide assistance to operational management in the analysis and understanding of all financial information as required.
- Calculate, analyze, verify and report all costs and activity to manager related to assigned areas on a monthly basis.
- Ensure all inter-company accounts for assigned entities are balanced on a periodic basis.
- Maintain documentation in support of all entries, accruals, reconciliations, and journal entries as part of completeness and accuracy documentation in support of internal controls over financial reporting.
- Assist with all assigned audit requests in connection with quarterly reviews and the year-end external audits on a timely basis.
- Participate in all SOX compliance activities – including completion of relevant controls.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the key accountabilities of the job required
- 2-4 years of related work experience preferably with a mid-size to large retail organization
- Ability to prepare reports and business correspondence.
- Demonstrated ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, and percentages.
- High skill sets with MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word) and Internet applications
- Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management (from conception to completion), & planning skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning)
- Solid understanding and application of mathematical concepts
- Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as internal and external clients
- Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
- Ability to work with and influence peers and senior management
- Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting

Environmental Factors & Working Schedule:
- Hybrid work environment, 2 days in-person attendance (Pittsburgh, PA) in addition to ability to work remotely.
- Regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands or fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear
- Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
- Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include long periods of computer screen usage, close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
- The noise level in the work environment is usually low/moderate
