That’s why we’re looking for a Staff Accountant to join our accounting team! This role will support the team with various accounting activities, including but not limited to month-end close, account reconciliations, and other accounting operations.
The ideal candidate is someone who loves the detailed nature of accounting. This role will also have a unique opportunity to provide feedback on the product as a user of the Mercury platform to improve accountants’ experience with the product.

As part of the journey, we would expect you to:
- Contribute to the month-end close process by preparing journal entries and account reconciliations for completeness and accuracy
- Categorize bank transactions and prepare monthly bank reconciliations ensuring the accuracy of cash reporting
- Perform flux analyses over financial results to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial statements
- Assist with accounts payable through invoice coding, processing payments, and responding to vendor inquiries
- Develop and maintain documentation of accounting policies and procedures
- Assist accounting team with ad-hoc or special projects as needed
- Identify and contribute to operational improvements to improve efficiency and accuracy of month-end close
Some things that might make you successful in a role like this:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
- 2-4 years of relevant accounting experience
- Intermediate MS Excel skills and experience with ERP Systems (NetSuite or similar software), preferred
- CPA (or on track to be certified) is a plus
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal

Our salary and equity ranges are highly competitive within the SaaS and fintech industry and are updated regularly using the most reliable compensation survey data for our industry. New hire offers are made based on a candidate’s experience, expertise, geographic location, and internal pay equity relative to peers.
Our target new hire base salary ranges for this role are the following:
- US employees located in New York City, Los Angeles, Seattle, or the San Francisco Bay Area: $102,900 - $121,000 USD
- US employees located outside of New York City, Los Angeles, Seattle or the San Francisco Bay Area: $92,600 - $108,900 USD
- Canadian employees (any location): CAD 93,600 - 110,100
