We are seeking a Staff Accountant for an immediate opportunity with our client that supports capital improvement projects for water and wastewater for a large public agency.
Candidates must possess solid leadership, administrative, organizational and communication skills. Recent graduates with a bachelor’s degree and internship experience will be considered.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform month end close and journal entries.
- Maintain and reconcile journal entries.
- Maintain monthly bank reconciliations.
- Ability with reconciling month end balance sheet accounts.
- Implement, maintain, and adhere to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP.
- Support the month end, quarter end and year end closing process, which includes monthly financial close workbook preparation.
- Assemble journal entries and thorough account reconciliations.
- Analyses for monthly balance sheets and income statements for management reporting.
Required Qualifications & Education
- The successful candidate will minimally hold a BS/BA Degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics.
- A minimum of one year of work experience in accounting strongly preferred.
- Experience in Munis software or other governmental software / ERP is a plus
- Must be a self-starter that is reliable, responsive, professional, and have the ability to maintain long-term relationships with clients and other business professionals and handle confidential information with discretion and trustworthiness.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication and superior active listening skills.
- Must be learning oriented and adaptable.
- Must be detail-oriented, demonstrate a positive attitude, willingness to learn and to work on various assigned tasks as needed.
- Must be creative and have the ability to build upon acquired knowledge.
- Strong proficiency in MS Office Suite and Excel required, including Pivot Tables.
