Job Summary:

A meticulous and proactive Staff Accountant with key responsibilities to include managing the general ledger, reconciling accounts, and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Ensure adherence to internal controls, accounting standards, and relevant regulations.
  • Assist in managing the month-end close process and creating journal entries.
  • Maintaining prepaid assets and amortizations, recording related journal entries as needed.
  • Review financial statements, ensuring accuracy, and compliance with GAAP.
  • Maintaining the fixed asset subledger and respective account reconciliation to the general ledger.
  • Coordinate and support the annual audit process, liaising with external auditors.
  • Assist with tax compliance and business license requirements.
  • Managing financial and operating lease accounting under ASC 842.
  • Knowledge of project accounting and project-based billing.
  • Improve systems and procedures, supporting replacement and testing of software for company.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for streamlining accounting processes to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Other duties assigned to support the Accounting department.
Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficient knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial accounting standards
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data analysis and financial reporting
  • Proficient in using accounting software and MS Office applications, including advanced Excel skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast paced environment
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information
  • Strong ethical standards and commitment to integrity

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in accounting or finance
  • Knowledge and experience with financial reporting and analysis

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Experience in accounting and financial administration.
  • Strong understanding of contract compliance and expense verification.
