About the job
The Staff Accountant will own key aspects of the monthly, quarterly and annual financial statement close processes. Assist in developing and maintaining internal controls as well as identifying areas for process improvement and implementing solutions. The duties include accounting for prepaid expenses and leases as well as maintaining balance sheet account reconciliations monthly including bank reconciliations. Assist in financial and internal control audits including preparation of audit schedules. Understand and apply US GAAP to accounting transactions.
Travel is not required. This position has no personnel management responsibilities and reports to the Senior Vice President of Finance and Chief Accounting Officer. The normal shift is 40 hours per week in the office, with periodic extended hours, as needed. Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Essential Functions
- Own key aspects of month-end closing including preparation of journal entries.
- Maintain leases company-wide including tracking additions and disposals
- Perform monthly reconciliations of various balance sheet accounts.
- Prepare audit support schedules.
- Maintain internal control for month-end close processes.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or equivalent; or 5-7 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience;
- Knowledge of United States generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and the ability to apply these to accounting transactions;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with all levels of the organization;
- Exceptional skills with MS Office Suite;
- Ability to work independently in a highly organized manner;
- Responsible for being knowledgeable of and acting in strict accordance with the requirements of all relevant laws, regulations, and Company policies, including, among other areas, Food and Drug Administration regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA or CPA certification.
- Relevant experience with Oracle Cloud Fusion
