Nakupuna Companies is looking for an entry level Staff Accountant. The Staff Accountant is responsible for working with the Senior Accountant/Accounting Manager to help maintain a sound accounting system, to include preparation of basic accounting reconciliations, Accounts Payable entries, billing creation, and timesheet processing.

- Determines operational objectives by studying business functions, collecting and evaluating information, and assessing potential solutions
- Prepares basic journal entries and account reconciliations and submits to Accounting Manager for review
- Assists the Finance & Accounting team with transactional functions as necessary, including, but not limited to:
- Accounts Payable voucher entry and employee expense reports
- Billing invoice processing, including Internal Work Orders (IWO)
- Assists Senior Accountant in new employee setup and related data maintenance, including paid time off accruals, labor posting, etc
- Recommends controls by identifying problems and developing improved procedures
- Creates and maintains job aides for various Finance & Accounting functions that can be used for training of future team members
- Maintains user confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential
- Prepares technical reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
- Inputs transactional activity for Joint Ventures in QuickBooks
Complete ad hoc/other requests as necessary
QualificationsSkills/Qualifications: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications with emphasis on Word, Excel, Outlook, and on-line search engines required. Must be self-motivated, efficient at multi-tasking and possess exceptional oral and written communication skills. Familiarity with Government Contracting, Deltek Costpoint, and Intuit QuickBooks is preferred. Must be a U.S. citizen.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or similar discipline from an accredited institution required.
- 1-2 years working experience in an accounting environment is preferred.
- Experience in or work for the U.S. military is highly desirable.
Physical Requirements: The ideal candidate must at a minimum be able to meet the following physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation:
- Ability to perform repetitive motions with the hands, wrists, and fingers.
- Ability to engage in and follow audible communications in emergency situations.
- Ability to sit for prolonged periods at a desk and working on a computer.
Skills Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a similar discipline from an accredited institution
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently
- U.S. citizenship
- One to two years of experience working in an accounting environment
- Familiarity with government contracting
- Experience with Deltek Costpoint
- Experience with Intuit QuickBooks
- Experience in or work for the U.S. military
