Description
The Staff Accountant is responsible for creating timely and accurate entries for financial statements, billing, accounts receivable, and accurately performing special departmental projects as assigned.
This position is based in Fayetteville, AR.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Reports directly to Controller.
- Interacts as required with other division office personnel and staff prepare and post monthly journal entries, accruals, reclassifications, and account adjustments in accordance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
- Analyze and reconcile general ledger accounts, cash accounts, accounts payable, accounts receivable, revenue, and production related accounts.
- Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close, ensuring transactions are recorded accurately and timely.
- Prepare monthly account reconciliations and supporting schedules, including explanations for significant variances.
- Assist with the preparation of financial statements, management reports, and accounting schedules.
- Assist with fixed asset and depletion/depreciation accounting, including additions, disposals, transfers, and supporting calculations.
- Work closely with Land, Production, Operations, Revenue, JIB, AP, AP/AR, FP&A, and other internal teams to resolve accounting issues.
- Support external and internal audits by providing account reconciliations, supporting documentation, schedules, and explanations.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, reporting, and data accuracy.
- Handle more complex accounting issues and work independently with limited supervision.
- Communicate with co-workers, management, clients, and others in a courteous and professional manner.
- Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions.
- Conform with all safety rules and use all appropriate safety equipment.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- 5+ years of previous Accounting experience
- 2+ years of oil and gas experience preferred
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and schedule work assignments
- Ability to use a computer and possess an understanding of computer software including Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Outlook
- Excellent time management skills and ability to work on many different projects at one time
- Ability to work independently and without direct supervision
- Understand the importance of following standardized procedures
- Maintain professional appearance
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
- Possess an organized and disciplined personality
- A positive attitude and take directions constructively
- Ability to work under tight deadlines
- Willingness to "go the extra mile" to achieve department goals

Physical Demand
- Lifting up to 20 pounds occasionally and up to 10 pounds frequently and frequently moving small objects.
- Frequently sitting for long periods of time
- Walking or standing occasionally
- This position works mostly indoors; going outdoors may be frequently required
- Must have manual use of hands and vision to use computer constantly

Skills Required
