Job Description:
Seminole Classic Casino pioneered Indian gaming when it opened as the country’s first large stakes bingo hall in 1979, eventually expanding with gaming machines and poker. Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Vice President of Finance, the incumbent, either personally or through subordinates, directs the activities of gaming and non gaming accounting, revenue controls, cash operations, accounts payable, payroll, general accounting, collections, food and beverage accounting, accounts receivable, receiving and general cashiering.
Essential Job Functions:
May include but are not limited to:
- Prepares journal entries to General Ledger.
- Prepares bank reconciliations.
- Prepares detailed account analysis.
- Monitors the bank accounts activity on a daily basis.
- Analyzes fluctuations in departmental results and variances from budgets.
- Assists in developing and updating of all Balance Sheet reconciliations.
- Responsible for ensuring the month end close is completed accurately and timely.
- Responsible for producing accurate, timely reports and communicating financial results effectively with all levels of management.
- Maintains and updates the General Ledger system and reports.
- Maintains and updates the Fixed Asset accounting system.
- Coordinates information flow with all the operating departments.
- Gathers, maintains and provides information to assist with quarterly & yearly audits for the Internal and External Auditors.
- Possess strong supervisory skills to oversee the General Ledger department.
- Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to General Ledger accounts documenting business transactions.
- Maintains records of company owned or leased equipment, buildings and other property. Coordinates and conducts periodic inventories to keep records current.
- Accounts Payable duties required to relieve AP Supervisor.
- Assists the Revenue Audit team on the reconciliation of the daily file.
- Responsible for training team members and ensuring policies and procedures are understood and all changes are communicated.
- Exhibits conduct in accordance with all Gaming Commission Regulations and Seminole Tribe of Florida departmental policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate actions and behaviors that reinforce the Company’s Mission and Values of Communication, Integrity, Fun, Respect, Accountability, Passion and Dedication.
- Promotes positive public/employee relations at all times.
- Performs all other related and compatible duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelors degree in accounting or a Bachelors degree in business with emphasis in accounting preferred.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting is required (4-6 without degree).
- Must be a perfectionist by nature, with no tolerance for financial sloppiness.
- Must have excellent work habits, including a willingness to work the hours necessary to get the job done, especially when important deadlines cause greater than normal departmental pressures.
- Must be highly skilled in dealing with financial and numeric data.
- Must be highly skilled in use of Excel Spreadsheets.
- Must be skilled in use of MS Word and must be a very good writer in order to handle the occasional administrative needs of the department.
- Must have very good verbal skills.
