Job Description

At TAL, reliability underpins the trust Australians place in us when it matters most. As our Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) Lead, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring our digital platforms are resilient, secure, and built to scale. By shaping reliability strategy across our CI/CD platforms and services, you’ll help teams safely deliver innovation at pace—so customers, partners, and colleagues can rely on TAL every day. This role is about creating stability through smart engineering, enabling faster change without compromise, and making reliability a shared responsibility across the organisation.

In this role you will:

  • Define and lead enterprise-wide reliability strategy, balancing customer experience with delivery velocity
  • Strengthen platform resilience by improving CI/CD performance, scalability, and deployment safety
  • Reduce operational risk through observability, automation, and proactive resilience engineering
  • Lead incident response and drive lasting improvements through blameless post-incident learning
  • Embed governance and compliance into delivery pipelines to meet security and regulatory expectations
  • Influence and mentor engineering teams to build a culture of reliability, ownership, and continuous improvement

Qualifications

  • Strong experience leading reliability and CI/CD platforms at scale, with a focus on safe, fast, and dependable delivery
  • Hands-on capability with modern CI/CD tooling and pipeline practices that support consistent, high‑quality releases
  • A practical approach to deployment safety and resilience, using proven patterns to reduce risk and build confidence in change
  • Deep understanding of observability and incident management, using data and learning to improve reliability over time
  • Comfort working within regulated environments, embedding security and compliance into engineering practices by design
  • The ability to influence, mentor, and collaborate, building shared ownership for reliability across teams and stakeholders
