THE OPPORTUNITY:

This is a broad Benefits role that requires depth where it matters most. Deep expertise in benefits and retirement plan administration is essential, along with working knowledge of leave administration, workers' compensation, paid time off, and compensation.

This role serves as a trusted resource to leaders and team members across the organization, translating regulatory requirements and business needs into scalable, well-run Total Rewards programs. Success requires curiosity, sound business judgment, and strong project ownership. You thrive in a build-and-scale environment, energized by improving programs, simplifying complexity, measuring outcomes, and continuously refining how Total Rewards supports the business.

You'll be empowered to make recommendations, influence decisions, and streamline processes in pursuit of better business outcomes.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Benefits & Retirement (45%)

  • Lead the administration and continuous improvement of NMG's health, welfare, and retirement programs across the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico, ensuring operational excellence and compliance. 
  • Serve as the organization's subject matter expert for benefits and retirement programs, partnering with brokers, carriers, retirement providers, and third-party administrators to optimize plan performance and resolve complex issues. 
  • Lead benefit enrollments, communications, and team member education that enable informed decisions and maximizes the value of NMG's Total Rewards offerings. 
  • Own plan compliance, including ERISA requirements, annual testing, audits, and regulatory filings. 

Leave, Workers' Compensation & Total Rewards Operations (30%)

  • Serve as the liaison for the administration of leave of absence, ADA accommodations, workers' compensation, and unemployment programs, ensuring compliance while driving improvements where necessary. 
  • Partner with leaders, HR Business Partners, external vendors, and agencies to resolve complex cases, provide guidance, and lead timely outcomes. 
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes, strengthen internal controls, improve operational efficiency, and enhance the overall team member experience across Total Rewards programs. 
  • Own and lead NMG’s paid time off policies and practices. 

Compensation (5%)

  • Support compensation programs through job evaluations, market benchmarking, compensation analysis, and data-driven recommendations that enable informed pay decisions. 
  • Ensure compensation practices align with organizational objectives and applicable laws and regulations. 

Compliance, Reporting & Continuous Improvement (15%)

  • Ensure Total Rewards programs remain compliant with applicable federal, state, provincial, and local laws and regulations. 
  • Prepare reporting, analyze trends, identify opportunities, and recommend solutions that improve compliance, operational effectiveness, and the overall team member experience. 
  • Develop and maintain scalable processes, documentation, and best practices that support the continued growth and maturity of the Total Rewards function.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in Benefits, Total Rewards, or Human Resources, including demonstrated ownership of benefits and retirement administration and regulatory compliance.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office products, especially Excel:
    • Efficiently build and troubleshoot commonly used formulas (e.g., vlookup, IF statements, True/False, TRIM, SUM) as well as Pivot Tables, charts, drop down lists, etc. 
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to organize and interpret data, develop recommendations, and prepare leader-ready reports and communications.
  • Proficiency with HRIS and benefits administration platforms.
  • Experience supporting a multi-state and/or multinational workforce.
  • Strong working knowledge of the regulatory framework governing employee benefits and Total Rewards, including HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, ERISA, and applicable Department of Labor and IRS regulations.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP, PHR/SPHR, or CEBS certification. 
  • Experience using ADP as the HRIS system of record. 
  • Experience working with Total Rewards functions for Canada.

Skills Required

  • 6+ years of experience in benefits administration
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field, or equivalent education, training, and experience
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, charts, and dropdown lists
  • Ability to organize and summarize data, make recommendations, and prepare leadership-ready reports and communications
  • Advanced hands-on proficiency with HRIS systems and benefits administration platforms, including configuration, troubleshooting, and custom report building
  • Experience in a multi-state or global organization
