We are seeking a highly skilled Teradata Engineer with strong expertise in database engineering, administration, and optimization. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in Teradata SQL, UNIX shell scripting, system performance tuning, and advanced database administration. This role requires working with cross-functional teams to deliver robust, secure, and scalable enterprise data solutions.
- Design, develop, and maintain Teradata data warehouse solutions aligned with business requirements.
- Write and optimize complex SQL queries involving joins, subqueries, and window functions.
- Identify and manage indexing strategies, partitioning, and statistics management to ensure query efficiency.
- Develop, automate, and maintain ETL workflows and scripts using Teradata utilities (BTEQ, FastLoad, MultiLoad, TPT, FastExport).
- Build and maintain UNIX shell scripts for automation, monitoring, and operational efficiency.
- Monitor and manage system workloads using TASM (Teradata Active System Management) and Teradata Viewpoint.
- Perform Teradata database administration activities including:
- Backup and recovery management
- Disaster Recovery (DR) setup and testing
- User access control and security enforcement
- System health monitoring and maintenance
- Backup and recovery management
- Troubleshoot performance issues, resolve system problems, and ensure high data quality.
- Collaborate with architects, analysts, and business teams to deliver scalable, secure, and reliable solutions.
- Mentor junior engineers and enforce best practices for Teradata engineering and administration.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience working with Teradata in enterprise-scale environments.
- Strong expertise in Teradata SQL with complex query design (joins, subqueries, window functions).
- Proficiency in UNIX shell scripting for automation and system operations.
- Hands-on experience in indexing, partitioning, and statistics management.
- Strong knowledge of Teradata utilities (BTEQ, FastLoad, MultiLoad, TPT, FastExport).
- Experience with TASM and Teradata Viewpoint for workload and system management.
- In-depth knowledge of database administration: backup, DR systems, user security, and access management.
- Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts and data modeling.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Experience with Teradata Vantage platform.
- Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Exposure to BI/Reporting tools (Tableau, Power BI, MicroStrategy, etc.).
- Knowledge of Python or other scripting languages for automation.
