What We Need

The Lead Data Quality Engineer is a key management role responsible for overseeing the data quality lifecycle within the 2K Data ecosystem. This role combines technical leadership with people management to ensure that game telemetry, player data, and analytics pipelines are accurate, reliable, and actionable. As an M5 leader, you will define the strategy for automated validation, establish organizational standards for data integrity, and lead a team of engineers to deliver high-trust data solutions that empower decision-making across the global organization.

What You Will Do
  • Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of 3 direct reports, providing technical guidance, performance management, and professional development.
  • Strategic Oversight: Define and drive the company-wide data quality strategy, standards, and best practices for the Data Engineering function.
  • Data Reliability Frameworks: Establish and enforce SLAs, KPIs, and monitoring frameworks to ensure data observability and consistency.
  • System Engineering: Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of automated data validation checks and anomaly detection systems across global
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Site Leadership, game developers, and backend engineers to ensure accurate instrumentation of in-game events and telemetry.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Lead investigations into complex data issues and schema drift, implementing long-term architectural improvements to prevent recurrence.
  • Governance & Compliance: Support data governance initiatives, ensuring player data is handled in alignment with global privacy regulations and internal policies.

  • Strategic Leadership: Ability to align data quality initiatives with broader 2K business objectives and technical roadmaps.
  • People Management: Proven capability in coaching technical talent and fostering a collaborative, high-performance team environment.
  • Problem Solving: Advanced analytical skills to diagnose complex systemic issues within event-driven data architectures.
  • Communication: Proficiency in translating technical data risks into actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders and executive leadership.
Who We Think Will Be A Great Fit
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related technical
  • Extensive experience in data engineering or data quality, including prior experience in a management or lead capacity.
  • Expert-level SQL skills and experience working with large-scale, event-driven
  • Strong proficiency with data pipeline and orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, dbt, Spark).
  • Proven track record of designing and implementing scalable data validation and monitoring
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in the gaming industry or high-volume live-service
  • Familiarity with data observability tools such as Great Expectations or Monte
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Databricks, Snowflake, GCP, or Azure).
  • Knowledge of player behavior analytics and experimentation (A/B testing)
