Job Summary:
The IT Investment Solutions Group at HOOPP (Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan) is looking for a permanent, fulltime Sr. Systems Developer to holistically support HOOPP Investment activities.
Reporting to the Sr. Manager, DevOps, the Sr. Systems Developer will support the day to day operations and enhancements of applications that drive HOOPP's investment activities. The Sr. Systems Developer will work on bug fixes, code development as well as architecture and design.
You will work with a team that is focused on delivering true customer value in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. They value challenging the status quo, innovative solutions, team collaboration and practicality.
What you will do:
Interface with internal business partners to manage technical operations, triage and fix operational issues.
Work closely with your product owner(s) and business users to understand business problems, and design cost effective solutions.
Participate in design sessions, code reviews, and support the community of developers on the team
Develop standards, patterns, and practices to improve the craft of software development in the department
Negotiate system architecture with other development teams for projects spanning many systems
Actively participate in Agile Scrum practices such as providing input to the team product roadmap, daily standups, backlog refinement, planning and sprint retrospectives
Contribute during design and planning meetings, write wiki articles and participate in issue and team retrospectives
Provide technical coaching and mentorship in conjunction with team development lead
Create a safe, supportive and participatory environment that produces ongoing mutual respect
Ask powerful questions, create awareness and guide individuals and groups in exploring options and deciding what to do
Design, build, and support new features and participate in issue resolution across our entire software stack
Prioritize technical improvements to create sustainable software
Support occasional weekend updates and afterhours deployment.
Diagnose production issues spanning multiple systems and technologies and work with associated team to resolve those issues
Who you are:
7+ years of backend development experience using C# (.NET Framework and .NET Core) and/or Java/Kotlin, and SQL.
Experience in frontend development is considered an asset.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to lead and take end-to-end ownership.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to think critically and creatively to develop long-term, resilient solutions
Ability to quickly learn, evaluate, and apply new technologies with a strategic, big-picture mindset.
Excellent knowledge of software development and enterprise design patterns
Understanding of Object-Oriented programming concepts
Experience in designing and building microservice-based enterprise-level applications from ground up
Experience with Cloud Based infrastructure products, preferably AWS.
Practical experience with Redis, SNS/SQS, Kubernetes, Docker, as well as exposure to GraphQL, Angular.
Experience with Applications for front and back office for investment & accounting activities in Public Equities, FX, Cash management, and Collateral management is an asset.
Experience with DevOps work would be considered an asset.
The expected annual base salary range for this role is: $103,000 - $153,000 CAD
The actual base salary offered to the successful candidate may vary based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, individual's expertise and level of experience applicable to the role they are being offered.
This role is eligible to participate in discretionary incentive plan(s), subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan text.
