The Sr. Staff Engineer, Cloud Platforms & Operations is a recognized expert in cloud engineering, infrastructure automation, and DevOps practices, with deep technical mastery across multiple domains. This role provides strategic technical leadership, mentoring, and hands-on guidance to teams across the organization. The Sr. Staff Engineer, Cloud Platforms & Operations is responsible for architecting resilient, scalable cloud platforms and influencing enterprise-wide technical direction. As a cross-functional thought leader, the this role defines siloed technical strategies, solves highly complex problems, and ensures alignment between engineering efforts and business outcomes.
  • Define and lead the architectural vision for cloud infrastructure and platform automation, ensuring scalability, performance, and security across environments.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in CloudOps, infrastructure-as-code, observability, container orchestration, and CI/CD pipeline design.
  • Guide and mentor engineers at all levels, fostering technical excellence and continuous learning across the team.
  • Influence the organization’s broader technical strategy and roadmap through innovation, peer collaboration, and cross-discipline leadership.
  • Solve complex and ambiguous infrastructure challenges through advanced technical analysis and deep domain expertise.
  • Establish technical standards, reusable patterns, and governance practices that scale across product lines and engineering teams.
  • Collaborate with leadership on long-term planning, including platform modernization, cloud optimization, and organizational capability building.
  • Represent the CloudOps discipline in architecture reviews, incident response retrospectives, and strategic planning initiatives.
  • Teach and coach others across engineering functions, translating expertise into scalable solutions and best practices.
  • Perform other duties that support the overall objective of the position.
Education Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Or, any combination of education and experience which would provide the required qualifications for the position.
Experience Required:
  • 6+ years of relevant experience in cloud infrastructure, DevOps, systems engineering, or platform architecture.
  • Proven track record of leading the design and implementation of mission-critical cloud platforms at scale.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive technical vision and align multi-team efforts around long-term goals.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS or other major cloud providers, infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation), and Kubernetes-based orchestration.
  • Experience defining and influencing platform strategy and infrastructure governance.
License/Certification Required:
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Developer, or SysOps Administrator (or equivalent cloud certification).
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Knowledge of: Advanced cloud architecture, security, networking, and governance at scale. Complex CI/CD ecosystems, infrastructure automation, container orchestration, and observability frameworks. Enterprise IT strategy, platform lifecycle management, and technical operations at scale.
  • Skill in: Strategic problem-solving, system-level thinking, and cross-functional influence. Coaching and mentoring engineers across disciplines and seniority levels. Communicating complex technical concepts to both technical and executive stakeholders.
  • Ability to: Lead enterprise-wide initiatives and set direction for technical domains. Evaluate emerging technologies and shape long-term infrastructure vision. Translate deep technical expertise into scalable, sustainable solutions.
