[Team Overview]

Order team at Coupang builds Core Order systems that are crucial to serve all Coupang customers’ order transactions with 99.99% systems availability. On top of the order platform, major business features in Coupang retail business such as pre-order, designated date delivery are running. This team focuses on bringing the order system to the next level with a much more simplified and scalable design to support Coupang order in multi different markets where Coupang will exist down the road.

Retail Engineering team is an organization in charge of Retail Business support and selection sourcing of retail products, an important axis of Coupang's eCommerce business. The team supports various retail businesses through Supplier Hub, a portal site for suppliers, and Retail Contract Center (RCC) Platform services for retail business operators. The team aims to accelerate growth, increase profitability and improve the productivity of the Retail business, and global extension. On the technical side, the team guarantees a highly available, reliable, and expandable system to make the best supplier experience and get the best retail selection.
Product Engineering team is a part of Ecommerce Engineering team, we exist for wow customer experiences, world class service excellence and hyper growing revenue. To achieve this, we build scalable & extensible architecture to support fast business growth & expansion, we create high performance & resilient backend system to handle increasing customer requests and we setup stable & fault-tolerant mechanisms to guarantee the customer experience. Creating disruptive products & resilient platforms for customers with world-class talents and cutting- edge technology is our vision and our commitment to the company.
Platform Engineering team is responsible for EE services reliability and engineering efficiency and productivity by providing Platform tools, process and drive the programs. EE services are complex and the team will drive the effort to find the risk, fix it and validate it. Also team provides the Platform tools for teams efficiency and productivity. And come up with long-term strategy and roadmap.

[Roles and Mission]

In this role, as a tech lead and architect, you will be leading regional diverse teams and building Coupang’s next-generation systems that serve Coupang product commerce in multi global markets with highly available and scalable architectures. You will be working closely with leaders across orgs; Product Managers, UX/UI designers who are building jaw drop customer shopping experience

[Responsibilities]

• Provide leadership and technical direction and ensure that our engineers are working on building scalable and fault-tolerant systems.

• The bar raiser of across group level tech engineering teams to lift team’s engineering / operational excellence with best practice.

• Engage with senior leadership and product owner(s) in developing and executing technical strategy and product roadmap ensuring scalability and simplicity.

• Prioritize and plan the projects and features sponsored by senior leadership, stakeholders and strategically important tech initiatives.

• Refine and set the vision for the overall architecture plan and application of best practice architecture, design patterns and ongoing simplification of the system landscape.

• Foster a culture that continuously innovates through frequent product iterations (Agile/Scrum) and help the team develop their Agile practices further.

• Own definition, measurement, and reporting of operational metrics.

• Establish and run the operational support for your team’s software.

• Communicate clearly and concisely with the team members, peers and leadership team.


[Basic Requirements]

• Bachelor/Master/PhD in Computer Science or Engineering, or related field.

• Minimum 10+ years of industry experience of increasing responsibility leading engineering teams.

• 5+ years of experience in software development in Object-Oriented development environment.

• Demonstrated experience in creating a vision, influencing cross-functionally and driving a technology organization to meet ambitious goals.

• Experience of large distributed system.

• Strong delivering software products competency in an environment that rapidly changing requirements with appropriate trade-off.

• Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Experience working closely with global distributed teams.


[Preferred Qualifications]

• 8+ years of experience in software development with hands-on architectural experience in delivering innovative products in the relevant space

• Experience working in Fintech, Order or similar e-commerce domains

• Experience working with geographically dispersed global teams

• English Proficiency in writing and speaking
