We are seeking a Sr Staff Cyber Systems Engineer - 18090 to serve as the primary technical liaison for a high impact DoD program. The role requires deep systems engineering expertise, hands on management of the technical baseline, and close collaboration with cybersecurity subject matter experts (SMEs) to ensure that all supplier deliverables are secure, compliant, and fully integrated into the program architecture. This position will be located in Roy, UT.

What You’ll Get To Do:

•             Lead Technical Oversight – Act as the engineering “single point of contact” for the program, aligning all supplier activities with the approved systems architecture and cybersecurity controls.

•             Systems Engineering V Model Execution – Drive requirements capture, functional allocation, interface definition, verification, and acceptance testing across every acquisition phase.

•             Define & Manage Statements of Work (SSOW) – Work with program managers, acquisition personnel, and cybersecurity SMEs to produce clear, measurable SSOWs that embed security requirements and risk mitigation strategies.

•             RFI/RFP Technical Content Development – Partner with the Program and Supplier Management Team Lead (SMTL) to craft technically sound, security focused solicitation packages.

•             Technical Evaluation & Negotiation Support – Lead proposal assessments, incorporate cybersecurity risk analyses, and advise the SMTL during contract negotiations.

•             Review & Approve Subcontractor Deliverables – Validate technical and security deliverables (SDRLs) with guidance from cross functional SMEs, ensuring compliance with the program baseline and cyber risk posture.

•             Baseline & Configuration Management – Maintain the integrated technical baseline, track configuration changes, and enforce traceability to system requirements and cybersecurity design/architecture.

•             Risk & Opportunity Management – Identify, quantify, and mitigate technical and cyber risks and gaps; maintain a risk register aligned with program metrics.

•             Action Item Coordination – Own the SMT technical action item tracker, facilitating transparent communication and accountability among engineering, procurement, and cybersecurity teams.

•             Performance Tracking – Establish measurable technical and cybersecurity maturity goals; monitor progress against schedule, cost, and performance indicators.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

Job Qualifications:

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

•             14 Years with Bachelor degree; 12 Years with Masters; 10 Years with PhD or an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

•             Active DoD Secret (or higher) clearance with a background investigation within the past 6 years; eligibility to obtain DoD Top Secret and Special Program Access (SAP/PAR).

•             Proven experience applying the systems engineering V model and managing the full acquisition lifecycle—from requirements development through acceptance testing.

•             Demonstrated ability to create, maintain, and control a technical baseline that incorporates cybersecurity requirements.

•             Experience working directly with technical SMEs and bringing that into overall program activities

•             Skilled at identifying, tracking, and mitigating technical and cyber risk items using quantitative metrics.

•             Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to lead cross functional teams and influence suppliers on technical and security matters.

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

•             Degree in Systems, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.

•             Hands on experience with aerospace environments (vibration, shock, thermal) and rugged hardware design (PWBs, enclosures, fixtures).

•             Active DoD? Top Secret clearance (or ability to obtain).

•             Experience working with suppliers/subcontractors including developing SOWs and other contractual documents. 

•             Proven record in Earned Value Management (EVM) or as a Control Account Manager (CAM).

•             Familiarity with cybersecurity concepts at a high level (resiliency, survivability, zero trust, etc)

•             CSEP (INCOSE) or INCOSE Level II Certification

•             CISSP, CISM, GIAC, or equivalent cybersecurity certification

Primary Level Salary Range: $183,200.00 - $274,800.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
