The Company

PayPal has been revolutionizing commerce globally for more than 25 years. Creating innovative experiences that make moving money, selling, and shopping simple, personalized, and secure, PayPal empowers consumers and businesses in approximately 200 markets to join and thrive in the global economy.

We operate a global, two-sided network at scale that connects hundreds of millions of merchants and consumers. We help merchants and consumers connect, transact, and complete payments, whether they are online or in person. PayPal is more than a connection to third-party payment networks. We provide proprietary payment solutions accepted by merchants that enable the completion of payments on our platform on behalf of our customers.

We offer our customers the flexibility to use their accounts to purchase and receive payments for goods and services, as well as the ability to transfer and withdraw funds. We enable consumers to exchange funds more safely with merchants using a variety of funding sources, which may include a bank account, a PayPal or Venmo account balance, PayPal and Venmo branded credit products, a credit card, a debit card, certain cryptocurrencies, or other stored value products such as gift cards, and eligible credit card rewards.  Our PayPal, Venmo, and Xoom products also make it safer and simpler for friends and family to transfer funds to each other. We offer merchants an end-to-end payments solution that provides authorization and settlement capabilities, as well as instant access to funds and payouts. We also help merchants connect with their customers, process exchanges and returns, and manage risk. We enable consumers to engage in cross-border shopping and merchants to extend their global reach while reducing the complexity and friction involved in enabling cross-border trade.

Our beliefs are the foundation for how we conduct business every day.  We live each day guided by our core values of Inclusion, Innovation, Collaboration, and Wellness. Together, our values ensure that we work together as one global team with our customers at the center of everything we do – and they push us to ensure we take care of ourselves, each other, and our communities.

Job Summary:

Senior Staff Content Designer, Consumer App
We're looking for a Senior Staff Content Designer to shape how millions of people experience PayPal's consumer products. You'll lead content strategy across our consumer app ecosystem, defining the language systems, frameworks, and standards that make financial tools feel intuitive and trustworthy.
This role sits at the intersection of product strategy and execution. You'll partner with senior leaders across Product, Design, Engineering, and Marketing to establish content as critical infrastructure, not decoration. Your work will set the standard for how PayPal communicates with consumers across checkout flows, wallet management, rewards programs, and account experiences.

Job Description:

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Develop clear objectives and priorities within content design to deliver results and meet organizational goals
  • Influence decision-making at the senior leadership level
  • Perform the most highly complex work assignments using domain knowledge and extensive business expertise
  • Develop and deliver innovative content design strategies that enhance user experience and benefit customers and/or clients
  • Lead major business projects which impact the content design unit or the product function
  • Design, evaluate, and select process, product, and service improvements based on thorough understanding of business needs and industry trends

Expected Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 12 years of relevant work experience and a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

Additional Responsibilities & Preferred Qualifications:

What you'll do:

Lead strategic content initiatives that span multiple product areas and shape long-term roadmaps. You'll define content frameworks that scale across teams, establish decision systems that encode institutional knowledge, and build the guardrails that help product teams ship faster without sacrificing quality.

Design content experiences for AI-powered products where the interface is conversational, the flows are non-linear, and traditional UX patterns don't apply. You'll define how PayPal's AI agents communicate, establish voice and tone for dynamic responses, and create content systems that maintain quality at scale when humans aren't writing every word.

Build AI-powered tools and processes that make your team more effective. You'll create custom agents for content review, develop frameworks that help teams make faster decisions, and use AI to encode institutional knowledge into reusable systems. You know when AI accelerates good work and when human judgment is non-negotiable.

Drive cross-functional alignment on complex, ambiguous problems where there's no obvious answer. You'll navigate competing stakeholder priorities, translate business goals into clear content principles, and make judgment calls that balance user needs with technical constraints and business requirements.

Set the bar for content quality and craft across PayPal's consumer products. You'll review high-stakes work, mentor senior content designers, and establish patterns that other teams can follow. Your writing will be the benchmark others aspire to.

Influence product strategy at the leadership level. You'll have a seat at the table when major product decisions get made, bringing a content perspective that shapes what gets built, not just how it's described.

What you bring:

10+ years designing content for consumer digital products, with deep expertise in financial services, payments, or similarly regulated industries where clarity and trust are non-negotiable.

A track record of leading content strategy at scale. You've defined frameworks that multiple teams use, established standards that improve product quality, and built systems that outlast individual projects.

Hands-on experience designing content for AI products or using AI to improve content processes. You understand how conversational interfaces differ from traditional UI, you've built agents or tools that solve real workflow problems, and you have strong opinions about where AI helps and where it creates risk.

Exceptional judgment in ambiguous situations. You know when to push back, when to compromise, and how to find solutions that serve users without blocking business progress.

The ability to influence without authority. You build credibility through the quality of your thinking, not your title, and you know how to get buy-in from skeptical stakeholders.

A systems-thinking mindset. You see patterns across projects, identify opportunities to create reusable solutions, and understand how content infrastructure enables better products.

Strong collaboration skills with senior leaders. You can hold your own in strategic conversations, advocate for content with data and reasoning, and build relationships that give content a voice in decision-making.
