We are seeking a Pune, India based Sr. SQL Database Developer/Architect to join our Finance Technology team in Global Technology & Operations.
IT Group Description:
Finance Technology provides project management, business analysis, system administration, software development, QA, and production support for AB’s corporate financial functions globally including Corporate Controller’s group (Corporate Accounting, Accounts Payable, Payroll, P2P), Financial Planning & Analysis, Assets Under Management (AUM) Reporting, Client Billing, Advisor Compensation, Revenue Accounting & Reporting, Tax, Treasury and IT Finance. CFS manages internally developed applications and services, internally hosted third-party applications, and externally hosted SAS solutions.
Role Description:
The Sr. SQL Database Developer/Architect is a key role for our firm and will own dataflows and data modelling of datastores used by Corporate Financial Systems. The role requires a hands-on developer who will own all phases of development in terms of analyzing the data needs and producing technical specifications, designing, and implementing database solutions that meet those needs, and then implementing and maintaining systems that are secure, reliable and scalable. Need to collaborate closely with Corporate Finance business team, reporting team & other database product owners. Additionally, they are responsible for leading other database developers, monitoring and optimizing the performance of the database systems, as well as ensuring that the data is optimally maintained and stored.
Applications and business or enterprise functions the role supports:
Finance technology owns multiple applications that are primarily responsible for producing Assets Under Management (AUM) reports, Revenue Accounting, Revenue Reporting, Cost Allocation, Forecasting, Billing, Commissions Processing and Analytics for AB's Corporate Finance Department. This role will be responsible for all the database applications that are supported by Finance Technology and will own some of these applications. The role will be responsible for maintaining data models, setting & enforcing development standards, maintaining and optimizing database code and processes, scheduling batch processes, interacting with business users and Interfacing with other IT professionals to source/feed data across the firm.
Key job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Develop, support, and maintain the datastore used for Corporate Financial applications.
- Architect database models, stage, process and implement business logic.
- Collaborate with business clients and other Corporate Finance technology onshore/offshore teams, help plan and execute all technology solutions and services.
- Comply with program source code control, defect tracking, application development life cycle, and all other departmental processes and procedures strictly adhering to standard firmwide SDLC policies.
- Support, maintain, and document application functionality, software testing and quality assurance.
- Solicit and clearly document business requirements to be developed by yourself/team.
- Participate in design/code reviews, project planning and estimation.
- Ensure key technical and implementation risks are understood and addressed.
- Willing to learn new technologies and methodologies related to software development.
- Participate in the hiring and mentoring of new team members.

Qualifications, Experience, Education, Skill:
- Bachelors or master’s in computer science or a related field.
- Strong MS SQL development skill set is a must.
- 10-12 years of experience in SQL server design/development/testing and production support.
- Solid logical, analytical, design, and programming skills coupled with experience supporting multiple environments.
- Experience working on large multitier database/data-warehouse applications with batch processing.
- Experience with database performance tuning, exception handling and troubleshooting.
- Unix/Linux and scripting skills are a plus.
- Experience working with Microsoft Azure data warehouse technologies a plus.
- Ability to work and communicate effectively across diverse technical and business teams.
- Client service oriented.
