Leidos is seeking a Sr. SQL Database Administrator (DBA) to partner on a large enterprise IT contract for the DOD. The DBA performs day-to-day technical database administration tasks. This includes database design, database structure identification, database schema definition, database access privilege management, database query optimization, documentation, database instance upgrades, long-range requirements, operational guidelines, and database protection. They should have experience with Microsoft SQL Server and SharePoint Database Services administration, data backs-up, data recovery, and update and fix security patches. Duties also include reviewing data within the database, ensuring user data integrity, maintaining database support tools, database tables and dictionaries, recovery and back-up procedures, and making recommendations regarding enhancements and/or improvements.
Primary Tasks:
- This role performs senior level database administration tasks and reviews the technical work of others.
- Conducts database design, database structure identification, database schema definition, database access privilege management, database query optimization, documentation, database instance upgrades, long-range requirements, operational guidelines, and database protection.
- Reviews data within the database, ensuring user database integrity, maintaining database support tools, database tables and dictionaries, recovery and back-up procedures, and making recommendations regarding enhancements and/or improvements.
- Monitors and manages backend data synchronization applications and external data source retrieval, applications.
- Examine customer problems, develop and present solutions, and then implement appropriate corrective action to initiate a repair or return to normal operations.
- Collaborates on and implements technical solutions with senior management and clients.
- Supports the development and adherence to procedures and policies.
- Provides basic mentorship to junior team members.
- Supports customer requirements in a 24/7/365 mission environment.
- Updates technical solutions, operations, and maintenance documentation for 24/7/365 IT Operations Center (ITOC) personnel.
Basic Qualifications
- Updates technical solutions, operations, and maintenance documentation for 24/7/365 personnel.
- Higher level knowledge of standards, concepts and tools to be able to complete technology assignments.
- Domain level technical knowledge to maintain databases, ensure recovery and provide patches on Microsoft SQL.
- Experience working independently on technical database administration activities in support of enterprise database clusters and standalone databases.
- Experience with SharePoint Database Services.
- Experience implementing a broad range of assignments requiring originality and innovation in determining how to accomplish tasks.
- Experience developing methodologies and presenting solutions to problems to senior management and clients.
- Experience interfacing with senior management and customers on requirements and solutions.
- Familiarity with Database-as-a-Service offerings and management.
- Familiarity with managing/administering MySQL and Oracle Database architectures a plus.
Education
- Candidate must have a bachelor’s degree with 8-12 years of prior relevant experience, master’s degree with 6-10 years of prior relevant experience, associate’s degree with 12-16 years of prior relevant experience, or High School Diploma with 20+ years of prior relevant experience.
- Certifications
- Candidate must, at a minimum, meet DoDM 8140.03 (previously DoD 8570) – IT System Admin Intermediate certification requirements (Cloud+, GICSP, SSCP, Security+ CE, GSEC, or higher).
Clearance:
- Due to the nature of the government contracts we support, US Citizenship is required.
- TS/SCI with specific polygraph required for Position OR TS/SCI and willingness to obtain and maintain a polygraph.
