Join a management team that designs, develops, and integrates highly complex avionics systems for the Software Center of Excellence (COE) within the Honeywell Aerospace Electronic Solutions business unit. You will be integral in creating software solutions that meet the evolving needs of our internal and external customers. You will be part of the Software COE software functional leadership team where you will have a major role to play in every aspect of the software development life cycle, from the front end of business development through product end of life.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a software development team consisting of approximately 15+ software engineers.
  • Provide individual and team development plans in collaboration with the Software Functional Chief.
  • Provide career guidance and growth opportunities for direct reports.
  • Provide mid-year and end of year performance feedback for direct reports.
  • Provide Technical leadership on program/project programs.
  • Provide coordination and leadership of 3rd party engineering teams.
  • Manage Software COE development plans; utilize metrics to provide early warnings to any plan deviations.
  • Manage engineering future demand versus supply forecasting including the hiring responsibilities for this software team.
  • Manage and provide process compliance training for employees including requirements, design, implementation, verification and company required training.
  • Provide Software COE software project development oversight.
  • Provide Software COE project coordination.
  • Foster a culture aligning with Honeywell Aerospace’s key behaviors.
  • Support customer interactions (internal and external).
Qualifications

YOU MUST HAVE

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent.
  • 10+ years Aerospace experience.
  • Experience with aspects of certification of avionics systems.
  • Experience with the development of real time software and/or avionics systems

  • Understanding various software development lifecycles in support for developing safety critical embedded software and architecture 
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in coordinating and overseeing entry to senior level professionals, including a track record of improving team performance and work practice through team coaching
  • Proven track record of successfully leading technically complex development projects and transitions to production
  • Proven track record to execute multiple projects while meeting customer expectations
  • Ability to consistently make timely decisions and balance systematic analysis with decisiveness, even in the face of complexity
  • Individuals who are self-motivated and able to work with little supervision, who consistently take the initiative to get things done
  • Ability to positively influence others and create a passion for excellence
  • Collaborative work with cross-functional partners enabling teams to exceed expectations on work delivery and timelines
  • Inertial sensing and navigation domain knowledge
  • Aerospace or similar safety critical industry experience
  • Knowledge of software configuration management and change management practices

    • DO178 experience 
    • Agile or SAFE-Agile
    • DevOps tools & processes (GIT/Bitbucket, Jira, Collaborator, Confluence, Bamboo)
    • Six Sigma development methodology
