Medtronic is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Sr. Software Engineering Manager - Test to join our Affera Mapping and Ablation System team. This role is essential in supporting the testing and quality assurance processes to ensure the reliability and performance of our advanced medical devices. 
The Sr. Software Engineering Manager - Test will an integral member in the Affera Software Team, working on cutting-edge technology in the electrophysiology field. This role offers a rare chance to be at the forefront of developing a groundbreaking technology that can disrupt the industry.  

 
The ideal candidate has experience managing a team that is responsible for designing, developing and testing real-time high-performance visualization applications. They will take ownership of key features while working collaboratively with other engineering teams and are passionate about working on a product that will have a positive impact on the lives of millions. 
 
 
About the Affera Mapping and Ablation System 
The Affera Mapping and Ablation System is an innovative medical technology designed to treat patients with cardiac arrhythmias. The system involves advanced mapping techniques to create detailed images of the heart's electrical activity, helping physicians identify abnormal areas causing arrhythmias. Once identified, the Affera Ablation System delivers targeted energy to disrupt these abnormal signals, restoring normal heart rhythm. 

 

 

Primary Responsibilities 

  • Perform workflow analysis, document test results and recommend quality improvements 

  • Work with engineers to resolve software defects and diagnose/improve product configuration for current and future models. 

  • Define, plan, organize and coordinate V&V activities with teams across multiple sites in accordance FDA and other regulatory requirements. 

  • Manage and develop software test talent within the organization and work with a cross-functional team to foster synergy in day-to-day operation. 

  • Lead in forecasting, effort estimation, resource & test planning, training, execution, and release activities. 

  • Aptitude for continuous improvement, identify and implement industry standard software test technology, methods, and tools. 

  • Well versed in different test development methodologies include Agile to enables breaking barriers across the organization. 

  • Oversee definition and implementation of different software testing techniques to increase test coverage. 

  

This position would require up to 25% travel. 

 

 

Required Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience with 5+ years of managerial experience 

  • OR advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with 5+ years of managerial experience 
     

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Expert knowledge of Medical Product verification, IEC-62304 and FDA guidance in a technical discipline, preferably software related (Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering)  

  • Thorough understanding of creating test protocols for verifying software requirements. 

  • Strong understanding of good documentation practices, various off the shelf test management systems 

  • Ability to work with QA to ensure testing meets Quality and Regulatory needs. 

  • Ability to manage, track and upgrade multiple hardware and software configurations.  

  • Ability to work with Systems, Mechanical, Electrical and Software engineers when discovering, documenting, and resolving integration issues. 

  • Experience using a tool or repository for managing test cases (Polarion, TFS, TestRail, JAMA etc).   

  • Experience debugging hardware with tools such as oscilloscope and function generators 

  • Experience writing technical reports 

  • Strong work ethic and entrepreneurial drive 

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. 

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$175,200.00 - $262,800.00


This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others). 

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).

 

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to all regular employees: Incentive plans, 401(k) plan plus employer contribution and match, Short-term disability, Paid time off, Paid holidays, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, Employee Assistance Program, Non-qualified Retirement Plan Supplement (subject to IRS earning minimums), and Capital Accumulation Plan (available to Vice Presidents and above, or subject to IRS earning minimums).

 

Regular employees are those who are not temporary, such as interns.  Temporary employees are eligible for paid sick time, as required under applicable state law, and the Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Please note some of the above benefits may not apply to workers in Puerto Rico.
