Summary
In this role, you will join our Data & AI Engineering team as a Senior Software Engineer, focusing on building and maintaining scalable data pipelines, modernizing cloud infrastructure, and supporting existing applications and projects. You will also contribute to the design, development, and deployment of AI and machine learning solutions, partnering across the full lifecycle from experimentation and prototyping through production implementation and ongoing optimization.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain robust ETL/ELT pipelines using SSIS, Azure Data Factory (ADF), and Databricks
- Write and optimize complex SQL queries and data transformation logic across large datasets
- Develop and maintain Python-based data pipelines, automation scripts, and data processing workflows
- Build and support CI/CD pipelines to ensure reliable and consistent delivery of data solutions
- Assist in modernizing cloud infrastructure to support scalable data and ML workloads
- Collaborate with data and business teams to understand data models, data flows, and downstream reporting requirements
- Participate in the full AI/ML lifecycle, contributing to experimentation, model development, deployment, monitoring, and production support
- Support the development of traditional machine learning models as well as LLM-powered systems, including:
- Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)
- Agentic workflows and AI-driven automation
- Vector-based search and semantic retrieval
- Work alongside senior AI/ML engineers and data scientists to implement, enhance, and scale AI solutions
- Follow and contribute to engineering best practices, coding standards, documentation, and operational excellence
Qualifications
- Relevant degree, prefer bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in software engineering or data engineering.
- Strong proficiency in SQL and experience working with large and complex datasets.
- Hands-on experience with SSIS and Azure Data Factory (ADF).
- Proficiency in Python for data engineering, scripting, and automation.
- Experience with Databricks and distributed data processing (PySpark experience is a plus).
- Strong experience with CI/CD practices and tools such as Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
- Working knowledge of the AI/ML lifecycle, including model training, evaluation, deployment, and monitoring.
- Exposure to or hands-on experience with LLM-powered applications, including RAG pipelines and agentic systems.
- Solid understanding of data architecture, data modeling, and data quality principles.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Position is a Hybrid position located out of Irving TX.
- You must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Estimated Hiring Range:
At Vizient, we consider skills, experience, and organizational needs in our compensation approach. Geographic factors may adjust the range estimate and hires typically fall below the top range. Compensation decisions are tailored to individual circumstances. The current salary range for this role is $102,400.00 to $179,000.00.This position is also incentive eligible.
