Role overview
As a Senior software engineer in Accolade’s cloud tooling team, you will build the framework to define the infrastructure as code, build the Accolade cloud platform to enable other engineers to create and deploy their applications and services quickly and efficiently. You will become the subject matter expert in various AWS services.
A day in the life…

Design, build and operate shared AWS-based infrastructure powering Accolade’s applications and services which are running in ECS, EKS or lambdas.

Build infrastructure as code frameworks using predominantly Typescript, Python and Golang languages to automate the provisioning of AWS resources to allow self-service for other teams.

Architect and develop infrastructure and application resiliency solutions.
-
Build CI/CD delivery pipelines with CloudBeesCI (Enterprise Jenkins) and Github Actions.
-
Research and develop on top of the latest AWS technologies to innovate the Accolade cloud platform.

Provide tooling, guidance and consultation to other engineering teams to build their applications and run their services efficiently.

What we are looking for…
-
Professional experience with high-level programming languages, such as Python, Typescript, Java or Golang.
-
Extensive experience with public clouds, like AWS (preferred), Azure or GCP.
-
Knowledgeable in container orchestration (Kubernetes, ECS) within the cloud or on-premises.
-
Experience with CI/CD processes and understanding of software development life cycle.
-
Good knowledge of Linux internals and common Linux distributions.
-
Familiarity with networking, TCP/IP, load-balancing, routing principles, CDN, DNS, HTTP, SSL and API routing.
-
Be able to learn new programming languages, frameworks and technologies quickly.
-
Capable of solving complex problems in an efficient manner.
-
Willing to work with teams across different time zones.

Good communication skills, English both spoken and written

A bachelor’s degree in one of the engineering or science fields such as CS, Math, CE, EE or Physics is preferred.

A look outside the day to day:

It starts from designing the basic building blocks, continues through securing and automating the entire pipeline and it overlaps with orchestrating, building and shipping of the application code.
