About the role

We are hiring a Senior Software Engineer to work on our core business platform — the system that runs settlements, payments, invoices, contracts, inventory, and related operations for a large agricultural cooperative.

This is a hybrid IC role: you will deliver product features and fixes alongside work that improves how we build and ship — automated testing, CI/CD, reliability, security hygiene, and day-to-day engineering quality. Much of the work is in a long-lived production codebase: you will change existing behavior carefully, refactor toward testability, and leave the next person in a better place. You will partner with existing engineers and an external engineering partner, use AI-assisted development as a standard part of your workflow, and help raise the bar for how the team ships.

What you will do

  • Design, build, and maintain features across the .NET stack (C#, desktop and service layers) and SQL Server, including business logic that lives in stored procedures
  • Refactor existing C# and SQL as you go — characterize current behavior with tests, improve structure incrementally, and avoid big-bang rewrites
  • Own work end-to-end: understand the business path, implement the change, add automated coverage, and see it through review and release
  • Strengthen delivery: improve build/test pipelines, migration safety, and the practices that make small, frequent changes the default
  • Grow automated tests on high-value paths (unit, SQL/integration, API) so confidence comes from the pipeline, not from babysitting releases
  • Contribute to Azure-hosted services and supporting infrastructure with a security- and operations-aware mindset
  • Use AI coding assistants daily — for implementation, review, tests, and investigation — and help the team adopt effective patterns
  • Collaborate with employees and external engineering partners; mentor peers through clear design, review, and documentation of important decisions

What we are looking for

Required

  • 7+ years professional software development experience, including substantial C# / .NET
  • Strong T-SQL and SQL Server experience; comfortable reading and changing complex stored procedures and data models
  • Experience with CI/CD (Azure DevOps preferred) and a habit of shipping behind automated checks
  • Working knowledge of Azure services commonly used with .NET applications
  • Experience owning and refactoring large existing production codebases, not only building new services
  • Proven practice writing automated tests and improving coverage on systems that already run in production
  • Fluency with AI-assisted software development (e.g. Cursor, Copilot, Claude Code, Codex, or equivalent) as a core part of how you work — not an occasional experiment
  • Ability to work hybrid and collaborate effectively with a distributed team
  • Must be able to attend occasional in-person meetings in our Omaha office, our headquarters in Aurora, Nebraska, and make occasional trips to other offices as needed

Preferred

  • Background in ERP, accounting, payments, inventory, or other financial / transactional systems
  • Experience with WinForms, WCF, Service Fabric, or similar enterprise desktop/service architectures
  • Exposure to infrastructure-as-code, application security hardening, or observability (logging, metrics, alerts)
  • Agricultural, commodity, or cooperative industry experience

Success in the first year looks like

  • You are a trusted owner on meaningful product work and on platform improvements that make delivery safer and faster
  • High-value paths have better automated coverage, and merges rely on required checks rather than hope
  • Peers can pick up areas you touch; important behavior is captured in tests and documentation
  • AI-assisted development is part of how the team ships, with clear habits around review and verification

 Benefits

  • Competitive wages
  • Medical (PPO & High-Deductible plans), Dental, & Vision insurance
  • Flexible/HSA Spending Plans
  • Life Insurance
  • 401K Plan with match
  • Short-term & Long-term Disability
  • EAP
  • Cancer Insurance
  • Vacation, Sick, & Paid holidays
