Role Overview
As a member of the Avionics Business Capture team, the Sr Sales Director will lead sales and business development efforts for GE Aerospace's Avionics business segment with a primary focus on military markets and OEM customers.
The dynamic and growing Avionics business provides cutting-edge solutions, including networked computing, data transfer systems, controls and displays, flight management systems, health management, stores management, cockpit and data recorders, and a comprehensive suite of other Avionics capabilities in both commercial and military space.
In this role, the Sr Sales Director will identify growth opportunities and lead capture campaigns to win new Original Equipment business across military platforms and adjacent markets. This role will primarily focus on Flight Management Systems, Stores Management, Data Transfer, Recorders, and Vehicle Health Management, but may evolve over time based on business needs. While the role primarily focuses on domestic markets, it may also involve international exposure.
This individual contributor role requires a leader capable of shaping requirements early, aligning internal resources with customer needs, and managing complex capture efforts across multiple stakeholders.
The preferred location for this role is at the Grand Rapids, Michigan headquarters, but remote work within the United States may be considered based on candidate qualifications.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Lead cross-functional campaigns and pursuits for Avionics programs across military and adjacent markets.
- Identify, qualify, and develop new business opportunities to drive growth.
- Establish the win strategy, price-to-win position, and value proposition for each pursuit.
- Create and execute detailed opportunity capture plans, including customer contact plans, competitive positioning, and internal milestones.
- Build and maintain influential relationships with DoD customers and aircraft OEMs at all organizational levels.
- Shape requirements and acquisition strategies early in the program lifecycle.
- Lead cross-functional integrated capture teams including Engineering, Product Line leadership, Programs, Finance, and Strategy.
- Lead internal capture reviews and executive briefings.
- Drive internal decision making on pursuit priorities and resource allocation.
- Manage the development of complex proposal efforts.
- Lead or support negotiations to close deals effectively.
- Oversee CRM systems to track pursuits and opportunities.
- Monitor DoD budgets, platform roadmaps, industry trends, and competitor strategies.
- Conduct competitive assessments across avionics suppliers and system integrators.
- Provide strategic insights that inform Avionics portfolio strategy and long-range planning.
- Assist in developing and executing an overall growth strategy for Avionics products and services.
- Travel 25% - 40%
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Business Development, Capture Management, Sales, Account Management, Marketing, Commercial Operations, Program Management, and/or DoD Military experience
- This role requires the successful candidate to maintain a US Government Security Clearance; prerequisite for a security clearance is U.S. Citizenship. Preference will be given to candidates who currently hold US Government Security Clearance.

- Master's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field
