About The Position
The Senior Safety Supervisor acts in a consultative role regarding company safety policies, procedures and safety management systems to ensure a safe work environment and is responsible for driving performance excellence in safety. Responsibility to mitigate operational risk by facilitating interventions that drive measurable improvements in safety and human performance across Ameren.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead safety projects and initiatives designed to address areas of high risk or injury.
- Partner with business segments to develop, implement, and administer safety solutions to reduce incident rates in alignment with company goals.
- Collaborate with other safety personnel to support products provided to business segments.
- Through leadership and collaboration, positively influence co-worker engagement around safety.
- Serve as subject matter expert on safety-related topics and regulatory requirements.
- Represent Ameren externally for safety-related topics across the industry, e.g. Consensus Standard committees, EEI, local professional organizations, etc.
- Review federal and state safety regulations and recommend appropriate methods of compliance for the company.
- Conduct field safety observations aimed at identifying risks with follow-up communications to the business segments.
- Provide services to business segments including safety presentations, training, jobsite inspections/audits, incident investigations/analysis, human performance tools, and safety committee support.
- Develop, maintain and analyze safety performance data to identify trends, perform forecasting and recommend improvement opportunities.
- Conduct industrial hygiene sampling related to lead-based paint, asbestos and noise under the direction of an industrial hygienist.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with five or more years of experience or master's degree in Safety or related field with three or more years of experience required. Five or more years of experience in safety or a related field required along with a thorough knowledge of regulatory safety standards is required. Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification is preferred. Advance degree in Safety is preferred.
The Senior Safety Supervisor works a standard work week in an office and field environment. This position requires occasional overtime (evenings, weekends) that may involve overnight travel. This position will also be expected to provide support during outages, storms, or other emergencies as required which may require working extended hours, weekends and holidays.
In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:
Knowledge of utility and/or construction industry preferred. Practical field experience in industrial hygiene including noise, asbestos and/or lead abatement field experience preferred. Experience in leading/mentoring safety professionals preferred. Proficiency with MS Office required. Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills also required. Ability to prioritize and self-direct work activities with little direct supervision and participate in a geographically dispersed team environment. Working knowledge of OSHA and other regulatory agency standards required. Asbestos, lead and HazWoper training and certification preferred. Proficiency with MS Office required. Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills also required

Compensation Range:
$88,500.00 - $137,200.00At Ameren, base salary is one component of a competitive compensation package for employees. Our pay ranges are broad to allow for movement within our organization and to accommodate different skill sets and levels of expertise. We take into consideration a variety of factors including, but not limited to, skills, abilities, experience, education, credentials, and internal equity when determining the base salary offered. Roles are eligible for additional rewards including annual incentive payments based on individual and company performance.
