Job Description

We seek an experienced plasma scientist who is an expert in plasma species reaction chemistry. Responsibilities will include the conception, construction and execution of fundamental proof of principle experiments in collaboration with a seasoned research team. Strong familiarity with including electron driven processes (molecule excitation, dissociation, ionization processes) and the underlying cross sections, gas phase reactions (charged particles and radicals) including thermal processes, and plasma surface interactions including adsorption and desorption process associated with reactive sticking. A good understanding of transport theory including notions of residence time, plasma and surface diffusion and plasma-surface interaction kinetics. A working knowledge of plasma diagnostics for the extraction of EEDF, neutral and charged species densities, vibrational and excitation states is necessary. Experience with electronic probes, optical, mass spectrometers, and image based diagnostics is desired. Knowledge and experience in plasma process in dielectric films CVD and ALD using different type of plasma sources is a plus. Knowledge and experience in plasma simulation (e.g. COMSOL, Quantmol) is preferred; however, the position will be primarily experimental (hands-on) in nature.

Graduate (Ph.D.) degree in plasma chemistry, chemical engineering, or related major is required.

Preferred hands-on experience and demonstrated excellent technical presentation skills. Some semiconductor industry work experience is preferred.

Responsibilities
• Initiates the design, development, execution and implementation of technology research projects.
• Investigates the feasibility of applying scientific principles and concepts to potential inventions and products.
• Plans and executes applied research.
• Maintains substantial knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories, and may contribute to scientific literature and conferences.
• May prepare, participate, and give presentation in customer technical meetings.
• May coordinate interdepartmental activities and research efforts.
