Sr Product Manager - US1
Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Senior Product Manager to lead lifecycle management for Illumina’s low-throughput (LT) sequencing platforms and consumables. In this role, you will define and execute the product life cycle strategy for several on-market products while maintaining customer experience and business continuity. This is a hands-on, highly visible role. You will collaborate cross functionally to evaluate options, solve operational challenges, and shape strategy.
Responsibilities
Portfolio Lifecycle Ownership
- Manage the lifecycle of select LT instruments and consumables, ensuring stable on-market performance and customer support.
Define and Execute EOL Strategy
- Lead development of the EOL strategy for legacy LT platforms, ensuring alignment with the broader platform portfolio and development roadmap.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to deeply understand opportunities and constraints.
- Build analysis and business cases to support recommendations.
- Socialize recommendations, align stakeholders, and gain executive approval.
Customer Transition & Commercial Readiness
- Work with global commercial teams to shape customer transition pathways, programs, and messaging.
- Track and report KPIs, risks, and leading indicators to measure success.
- Partner with Sales, Service, and others to ensure seamless customer experience.
Champion Our Customers
- Engage directly with customers, key opinion leaders (KOLs), and collaborators to gain deep insights.
- Share VOC and insights with internal teams to drive customer-centric solutions.
- Advocate for customer needs throughout the organization.
Requirements
- Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 3 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD without experience; or equivalent work experience.
- The ideal candidate possesses deep knowledge in genomics and next-generation sequencing (NGS), along with experience in product management. Strong candidates from adjacent functions who bring analytical rigor and cross-functional leadership will also be considered.
- Proven success managing complex product lifecycles in scientific or biotech environments.
- Strong understanding of the genomics market and NGS applications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical and business information to diverse audiences.
- Experience working in a matrixed organization with R&D, Operations, Finance, and Commercial teams.
