The RoleAspenTech, a global leader in software solutions for optimizing process manufacturing across various industries including oil and gas, petroleum, chemicals, and pharmaceuticals, is seeking a talented Software Developer to join our Advanced Process Control and Dynamic Optimization R&D Group in Houston.
In this role, you will play a crucial part in supporting and enhancing our industry-leading advanced control (DMC3) and dynamic optimization (GDOT) products, utilizing cutting-edge software tools, AI, and advanced modeling and optimization technologies.
This unique opportunity allows an exceptional software developer to contribute to a rapidly expanding product that serves as a fundamental pillar for industry digitalization.

Your Impact

  • Primarily focus on designing, developing, maintaining, and supporting DMC3/GDOT products.
  • Current job responsibility is to lead DMC3 desktop UI development.
  • Analyze customer requirements and translate them into product features and use cases.
  • Deliver innovative solutions to enhance our products, ensuring they provide better value for our customers with a focus on simplicity in deployment and maintenance.
  • Collaborate with other teams to identify synergies among AspenTech’s extensive range of products.
  • Work collaboratively with the extended team in Product Management, Customer Support, and Quality Assurance to ensure a successful product release and seamless customer adoption.

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Chemical Engineering, or related fields with 10+ working experience.
  • Passion for software development.
  • Familiarity with software development in C#.
  • Experience with Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) and Windows Forms (WinForms) development.
  • Knowledge of design patterns such as MVVM or MVP to ensure clean, maintainable code.
  • Familiarity with unit testing frameworks.
  • Experience with third-party UI controls such as Infragistics or DevExpress is a plus.
  • Experience with multithreading and asynchronous programming is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, writing, and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to convey complex information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Experience in software project management is a plus.
