The Opportunity:

We are currently seeking a Sr. Planner III to join our Planning team in Jacksonville, FL.


In this role, you will contribute to a variety of planning projects involving land use, comprehensive planning, zoning, redevelopment, site planning, and community development. You will work collaboratively with planners, engineers, landscape architects, and other professionals to develop thoughtful planning solutions for public and private sector clients.


This position is ideal for an experienced planner who brings strong technical expertise and is ready to take on complex planning assignments while supporting project teams, clients, and the continued growth of PRIME AE’s Planning practice.


What You’ll Do:

As a Sr. Planner III, you will perform and coordinate complex planning assignments while supporting projects from research and analysis through documentation, presentations, and implementation.


You will prepare planning studies and reports, analyze land use and development requirements, participate in client and community meetings, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams. You may also provide technical guidance to less-experienced planners while continuing to expand your planning expertise and client-facing experience.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform complex planning assignments involving comprehensive planning, land use, zoning, redevelopment, site planning, and community development. 
  • Conduct research and technical analyses related to land use, demographics, development trends, zoning, and community needs. 
  • Prepare planning reports, studies, presentations, maps, graphics, and other technical documentation. 
  • Research and interpret comprehensive plans, land development regulations, zoning codes, and applicable local and state planning requirements. 
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams and coordinate planning activities with engineers, landscape architects, clients, agencies, and other stakeholders. 
  • Participate in client meetings, public meetings, workshops, community engagement activities, and presentations. 
  • Support Project Managers with project documentation, schedules, deliverables, proposals, and client coordination as needed. 
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior planning staff as appropriate.


What You’ll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, City & Regional Planning, Landscape Architecture, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline; Master’s degree preferred. 
  • 10+ years of professional planning experience. 
  • AICP certification preferred. 
  • Demonstrated experience with comprehensive planning, land use, zoning, redevelopment, site planning, or community planning. 
  • Knowledge of local and state planning processes, land development regulations, zoning requirements, and community development practices. 
  • Experience preparing planning studies, technical reports, presentations, maps, and other planning deliverables. 
  • Proficiency with ArcGIS and Adobe Creative Suite or similar planning, mapping, and presentation tools. 
  • Strong analytical, communication, presentation, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work effectively on multidisciplinary teams.
