Job Title: Sr. Payroll Specialist I

Job Summary
The Sr. Payroll Specialist I is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll for employees in Mexico. This role requires extensive knowledge of Mexican labor laws, tax compliance, and payroll systems to ensure adherence to regulations and optimize operations. The specialist will collaborate with HR, Finance teams, and external vendors to ensure efficient payroll and benefits administration in Mexico.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in payroll processing in Mexico, preferably in a multinational or large-scale organization.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in payroll systems used in Mexico (e.g., SAP, ADP, Workday, Oracle, or other payroll software).
- Strong knowledge of payroll regulations, tax laws, and employer-employee contributions in Mexico.
- Experience calculating ISR, ISN, IMSS, INFONAVIT, and other applicable payroll taxes.
- Proficiency in calculating benefits such as Christmas Bonus, vacation premium, and vacation balance administration.
- Experience in managing and administering benefits (Savings Fund, Grocery Vouchers, Gasoline Vouchers, Major Medical Insurance).
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in payroll automation and process improvements.
- Experience with payroll audits and tax compliance in Mexico.
- Preferably advanced English.
Key Responsibilities
- Process and review payroll cycles, ensuring accuracy and compliance with Mexican labor and tax laws.
- Maintain and update payroll records, including earnings, deductions, and applicable taxes in Mexico.
- Ensure compliance with local tax regulations, social security contributions (IMSS, INFONAVIT, AFORE), and other legal requirements.
- Calculate and validate employer-employee taxes such as ISR, ISN, IMSS, and INFONAVIT, ensuring proper withholding and payment.
- Manage the administration of benefits such as Savings Fund, Meal Vouchers, and Gas Coupons, ensuring correct benefit cap calculations.
- Oversee enrollments and terminations for Major Medical Insurance, ensuring accurate payroll deductions.
- Calculation of Christmas Bonus (aguinaldo), vacation premium, and vacation balance administration.
- Prepare and reconcile payroll reports, including salary reports, tax filings, and social security contributions.
- Address employee inquiries regarding payments, tax deductions, benefits, and payroll calculations.
- Participate in payroll audits, ensuring data integrity and compliance with internal and external policies.
- Stay updated on changes in Mexican labor and tax laws, ensuring proper implementation.
- Support payroll system implementations and process improvements to enhance efficiency.
